***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

Selfishly this cold blast is what is finally getting me excited for a cruise we're taking in January. I miss those summer days when I'd take the dog for a walk and not feel the bone chilling blast of cold and my body automatically contracts and shivers. But hey I choose to live in Iowa!

The extended forecast is showing no chance of precipitation into mid-December. I presume this means we’ll get hammered with a blizzard the week of Christmas when everyone has to travel?

Truth!

We're trying to plan a day to run up to MN to ski and get the kids in ski school but I'm reluctant to commit until 7 days out when I can see what the weather might be....

We leave on our next cruise out of Galveston on Jan. 6th, cannot wait, 11 days in the sun and ocean.

Hopefully. Feels like it's been a while since we had snow on the ground over Christmas.

God I would love to go on a cruise right now. I'm getting Facebook memories from the ones we've gone on in years past (we always go November/December/January) and it's really getting me itching.

January through March is the best time to cruise in my opinion, we are getting burnt out on winter and the weather this far North, and the weather down on the islands is around 80. The ocean is still a little chilly when you get in, but you quickly warm up to it.

Nothing like sitting on the balcony with a bucket of beer and watching the ocean sail by.

Man have an awesome time!

We're doing a Disney Cruise out of Fort Lauderdale. Just 5 nights but going a couple days early in case weather/travel issues...worst case scenario we get to mess around in warm South Florida.

We're taking the kids on their first cruise at the end of February. Also sailing out of Galveston for 7 days. Looking forward to it.
Be sure to google the port authority for parking in Galveston, Generally they have discount parking passes. Which ship are you sailing on, Galveston is a great area to sail out of and very fun to drive around and check it out.

We're flying into Houston and going to get some sort of shuttle service. Hopefully whatever shuttle we take knows what theyre doing. We're sailing Royal Caribbean Harmony of the Seas. I think 2 stops in Mexico and one in Honduras. My wife still sees her doctors in Houston, so she'll stay after for a few days for that. I'll fly back with the kids.

Roatan snorkeling is absolutely epic. Won't be that way in 10 years so take it in while you can. If it's an excursion choice take it.
