***Official 2024 Weather Thread***

I remember trick or treating in a snow storm in N. WI in the early 90s.

Exactly. Back in my day, you chose your costume based on the weather in your region. In the Midwest, Chewbacca worked perfect.

The nasty weather years were the ones you remember because you had to work for your candy. And since all the soft kids stayed home, you got handfuls per house rather than a single piece.

1991, I think, was a miserable Halloween - cold, sleeting. We took our 1 1/2 year old daughter to trick or treat at the mall, back when they still did that kind of thing. Unless I’m misremembering and it was 1992 … it was definitely one of those Halloweens.

Growing up it was spiderman with a coat. stormtrooper with a coat, the scream murderer with a coat.

On weather news I got .65 of rain in my rain gauge in the twin cities.

Yup, I remember this one. Dark, cold, sleeting.

We had an ice storm that year on Halloween took down overhead cable tv wire, with all of the filters. Yes , I promptly removed all of my cable tv filters. (those filters stopped cinemax and HBO and other programming, if you didnt pay for it) guess I am a crook.

Yes a hobo wearing coveralls and a hat with flaps worked nice also.

LOL - Less than 0% chance of that happening.

Oh I know, more wishful thinking than anything.

Don’t raise your kids soft. A cold rain during trick-or-treating is a rite of passage for children. This idea that ToTing needs to start before the sun goes down and ends at a certain time is ruining children’s upbringing. It ends when the candy is gone and everyone turns off their lights! If that’s midnight, so be it.

I'm not worried about my kids, I just don't want to walk around in cold rain lol. I agree, it's good for them - guess dad will just need an extra layer of the liquid coat.

Trick or treating in a snowmobile suit is a memorable experience.

Little over a half inch here last night in Minneapolis. Allergy symptoms are so much better now with the dust all knocked down.

First call for next Saturday. I think we'll be dry for the game but there is a storm system that passes in the Friday/Saturday timeframe. I'm thinking it's more progressive but Specific timing is still a bit in limbo. High of 60. A few clouds linger. Wind NW 10-15 sustained.

Don't think we're out of the woods on the rain component just yet.

It really is such an easy decision with such a clear better opportunity to do it. Surprised it's taken this long for action to be taken.

Don't get me wrong. A bit of rain, snow, cold on Halloween is fun. But with such an onslaught of rain and possible strong storms this is really a no brainer.
