Neighbors house here in Johnston got hit with lightning. Storm seemed like it was over and then a crack of lightning and a boom.
The cool air is nice. Suggest opening the garage doors for those in CR / Marion

I live in Johnston but only got ~5 minutes of rain. Tons of cracking thunder though.
Yeah I think family got nailed. Was already bad before the heavy stuff rolled in and no text for 20 min now.
The lightning in the Cedar Rapids area is still crazy! And BRIGHT! Joe Winters said something like "10,000 bolts in a 15 minute span"...could that be right? I believe anything Joe Winters says regarding weather...questioning if I heard that right?
Wife's Snapchat shows a lot of damage in DSM burbs. Neighborhoods with roof plywood off/exposed trusses.
It started just east of the corner of 86th and Douglas in Urbandale. Lots of tree's and fences down. Couple of homes had their roofs taken to the rafters. Some tree's that didn't go down took a hair cut. Not Oklahoma City type of stuff.......but damage none the less.
Lotta tree branch mess and no power but family all good.
