***Official 2024 Transfer Thread***

I like everything we are doing in the portal, but rebounding remains a concern. We have alot of productivity on the boards to replace.

I think it will always be a concern based on style and defensive philosophy more than anything else. Interestingly, all 4 current transfer targets average 6 boards a game. That's very good for Heise and Hadley, but good / not great for Kyle and Jackson.

Huge if, but I agree with this part.
Agree it’s a big if. We likely won’t land all the aforementioned players, and Milan should improve

We aren’t adding Hadley, Heise, and another big without minutes going down for most of the four returning guys.

And to be fair our guards rebound at a much higher clip than most teams.

Kyle and Jackson do have TReb% at Ward’s level, which isn’t elite, but would be top-10 in Big 12 this year

We struggled against teams with size. I don't think going smaller is the answer. I feel TJ would like a roster that is capable of going both small and big.
Agree 100%. Dishon Jackson is an absolute brickhouse at 6'11" 260. JT Rock is 7'1" and all of 250. We did not have that kind of size lsst year. They will grab another forward or two.

Dailey was also a freshman. Remember that we don't need a starter at the 4/5 either since we're likely going for a 3 guard, Momcilovic, and Jackson starting rotation. I think Dailey could thrive in a new environment, playing on a team with great guards that can help put him in a position to score.
I would much rather have their other freshman that did start. (Garrison)...Yeah and I understand that would cost more $$$.

Not surprised we're going after some guards, never know how freshmen will be and our guards played too many minutes out of necessity, we didn't have many injuries, but we didn't have a lot of guard depth. Reading between the lines, I'm thinking rock will be ready to play some minutes as we lose both Hasan and bre and don't seem to be replacing both.

We're replacing both

I laugh when people say take a project. Like what? I don't know the intricate details of recruiting, but holy h*ll take a project? WTF was Omaha then? Lol... that's a face palm. We take a project after letting our 5* walk. Think about that one for a second.

Yeah I think TJ is moving on from playing a C and a PF that can't shoot, that is basically a C too.

You are, too, don't get the wrong idea? I don't follow.

Disagree somewhat.
There certainly will be times we will play three guards. Maybe a lot. But there will be matchups where it is better to play with a traditional 4, especially for defense and rebounding purposes. I love Milan, but he is not that guy. I suspect our desire is to play a lot like this year. Go get one of these 6’8/6’9
Athletes we are involved with. I think they will play a lot.

We’ve already signed our elite small ball starting five assuming no other portal entries. It’s just our returning best four players, the signed big guy, and Watson off bench. Need second key big signing along with Rock to have the size option.

If you're looking for a valuable guy that is willing to be the last guy off the bench, good luck.

You've got to be kidding me, this has to be a joke.

For whatever reason some of our fans have little patience with MM. he was so much better as an all around player than I thought that I’m fine with the inconsistent offensive production and nearly positive it’ll get more consistent. My hope for him has always been 3 years with his third year being so good he’s a high pick.

I'm not sure how that guy isn't exactly William Kyle from SDSU, who we are meeting with this week

I think a lot of message board fans of other teams are looking at the Omaha situation thinking they’ve struck gold. I know some Arizona fans are talking about him because a friend asked me about him after reading one of their insider forums. Fans aren’t coaches though. If he tries to go to another major program but wanting to play heavily he’d really have to trust the coach on playing time.

I want to agree with you, but the way the news is shaking out about us basically being involved with guards a ton and no news on transfer big men, it seems like we're going to have Momcilovic be the 4. Jackson is the only big man we have that's starter material unless Rock is ready to go.

We already have Jackson committed and are having an in-home visit with William Kyle this week. Are you saying that we need more than 2 bigs?
