We just had an off day and you are sitting a guy for a 2nd consecutive day who has hit .333 with 3 HR over the past 7 days for a bench player that maybe sees a mistake and hits it out tonight but otherwise is probably going to strike out and play some shaky defense too. Again, I have been pretty open about how I think Wisdom is a bum so I'll own any bias I have when it comes to him in the lineup but Busch is the better player and has a future with this team, Wisdom does not. If they are serious about making a late playoff push then you don't play this game of trying to find matchups to get bench players playing time you put your best lineup out there on a nightly basis going forward. Can't use this BS about righty vs lefty matchup then keep 2 lefties in the lineup tonight in Bellinger and PCA who are so far a combined 4-4 tonight.
Ross played the righty/lefty matchups too much and now that Counsell is doing some of the same makes me wonder if the front office is weighing in on the lineups too much with analytics. Roll your best lineup out there on a consistent basis like good teams do and take the good with the bad. Especially with some of these younger guys they need the confidence that they are going to play nearly every day and not sit when they see a lefty on the mound.
maybe play him a little more to keep him a little sharp in case you need him to pinch hit otherwise the complaints about him not being able to hit will be there but agree with you bat him down 6/7 in the order
I still like Stoney. He and Chip got a raw deal for what went down when they got the boot. They got critical of what was going on and as a fan I appreciated that because I don't like announcers that are complete homers.

Fun fact mentioned when he was with the Red Sox and the Cubs were playing them at Fenway - Benintendi was available after 6 picks in the 2015 draft. Red Sox got him at 7. Cubs, who had him next up on their board, ended up drafting Ian Happ 2 picks later.

White Sox have a major fireworks show going on right now in the background of the post game show. It's probably a Friday Night thing they do, but I prefer thinking they're celebrating a one run loss to the Cubs.
Good list of bad closers the Cubs have had. Alfonseca and Gregg were horrible. Rod Beck was not a bad closer but he rarely pitched a clean 9th inning it felt like but he eventually got out with the save even if it was nail biting to watch.

I remember watching Kyle Farnsworth pitching in Des Moines and thinking that he would be a closer for 10+ years. He ended up pitching in several roles for several teams over a 16 year career but man he threw GAS!
