***Official 2024 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Schwarber can play left field, and if Morel was also on pace for 47 homeruns and triple digit RBIs and a .350 OBP, I probably would be a bit more forgiving
Schwarber is a liability in the OF.

Now you're just adding ****, stick to you're original statement.

I will stick to my original statement, Morel has no glove and is a sub .200 player.

Schwarber is not a liability with the glove. Saying so is the typical meatbally statement in which Schwarber has proven time and time again is inaccurate. He’s not a gold glover, but he’s a much better LF than Morel is 3B, and it’s not particularly close.

Actually I just checked baseball savant - when Schwarber was a Cub, his second worst defensive season in an entire season was exactly what Morel is at now in half a season.

However, Schwarber has indeed been terrible in the OF in Philadelphia. But again, if you are a proven 40+ HR, .350 OBP hitter, I think you can have a leash. I don’t think Morel has proven anything.

Schwarber doesn't make a lot of errors because his range is basically a hula hoop. I love Scheabs. When he played for us i put a sign up in my cube saying fear the Schwarb. I was surrounded by Cardinal fans. But the fact remains career BA Schwarber. 229, Morel .230. Without looking I'm guessing Morel's walk rate is comparable this year. Morel is still a kid. I wouldn't quit on him.

Morel is basically the equivalent of Schwarber, questionable defensively but has a lot of potential with the bat. At the time I was fine when the Cubs DFA Schwarber but looking back that was a bad move. I like that they have given Morel some runway at 3B to develop.

I checked walk rates not as close as I thought 11.8 v. 16.5 so ill give you that but that rate for Morel is a massive improvement. Maybe he can't stick at third but that bat has such huge potential you just have to give him time.

So 2-1 heading into the 5th if you have a left fielder who can catch a routine fly ball but he can’t and your mental midget vet just gets piss pounded afterwards. 7-1.

Kyle will get the hate but that inning blew up mainly cause of our “gold glove” LF not being able to catch a fly ball

Well that’s why I can’t help but chuckle when people say Happs GG is evidence he’s a good defender lol
He's got a solid arm, but his range and glove are pretty average.

And.... Hendrix takes the walk of shame after giving up a granny. Boog nailed it. When something goes wrong, things typically go off the rails.

This team could be the greatest collection of dudes who are just happy to be cashing checks I’ve ever seen. No one gives a ****, starting with the grossly overpaid manager.

Wow sounds like you're already quitting on some really good prospects.

Just because you keep saying that about Dansby doesn't make it true. He was sold as a winner. His batting approach is far from being a winner.

He was like the 7th best player on a World Series team and he rode that and a nice head of hair into an absurdly inflated deal.

Hey we are only 12 back in the loss column for the Divison and 5 back in the Wild Card with only 6 other teams ahead of us!

What happened to the Cubs, a couple of years ago they had all those great prospects that were just tearing it up in AA and AAA, but now they are getting little or no production from any of them it seems.

Ross left me scratching my head sometimes last year, especially during the late season collapse.. but this team has absolutely disintegrated under Counsell.

Radio pundits pointed to his record with the Brewers in close games, but I always wondered, isn’t a bunch of that just having a good closer? And here we are.
