***Official 2024 Chicago Cubs Thread***

This team sucks. At the point that they can sell off anyone as I'm not attached to any of them as a fan at this point. They probably need to clean house with the front office and the bench coaches and reset going into next season. If the minor league system is as loaded as the latest prospect rankings says it is then clear a path for them and see if they live up to the hype..

Everybody associated with this team sucks. Players, coaches, front office, owners....everybody. . Now it's way too expensive to plan a family trip to Wrigley to watch a ****** team, and you have to pay to watch them on TV. It's almost as if the Cubs are trying to lose all of their fans.

In the last 10 MLB drafts, the Cubs have drafted and developed just 16 guys who made it to the majors within the organization. Obviously that number will climb with supposedly a top 3 farm system but I think that is a remarkably low number and includes guys like Matt Swarmer, Brendon Little (1 game), Jared Young, Luis Vazquez (1 game), Cory Abbott, Brandon Hughes, Michael Rucker, Scott Effross, and PJ Higgins. Many of those guys are out of baseball. If we aren’t going to spend money, we have to be better at developing talent.

The Bellinger smoke seems to have been the most heavy recently, with many Cubs outlets saying not to expect much because of his contract.

I guess he’s about the one offensive guy I’m ok with not definitely selling if we aren’t getting an offer that blows us away.

He’s the only consistent guy in our lineup that doesn’t have 4-6 week streaks of being an automatic out, and I’d love to see what he could do if he wasn’t forced to be THE GUY every ******* day on our roster.

Problem is we do spend money, just not wisely.

Epstein was smart to get out when he did

Busch drops a Bohm foul ball and Bohm hits a go ahead nuke with his extra life.

Would’ve been a tough play, but Busch needs to make it and those extra outs are a large part of why this team is aids

Last complaint of the night and I’ll hang up

Whatever broken computer/analytic system we use to create our lineups is obviously the same as it was last year.

I heard on a podcast we have a winning record when Happ leads off. Our two runs tonight are Happ after leading off an inning. But we continue to do weird **** that doesn’t work instead

I'll always believe (without having proof, I get it) that the GM (and maybe even ownership) have their fingers into setting up lineups, last year as much as this year.

You mean like using Wisdom to lead off and Morel batting cleanup?

Amaya is good for letting one ball get behind him at least once a game in the late innings. This time it gives the Phil’s the lead.

I get he’s young but I’m not sure I’d even have him up next year. Grab a FA and bring up Ballesteros. Dude is destined to be a Des Moines lifer.

And I’m not totally sure Counsell gets it. Dumb ******* outs on the bases. Basic fielding mistakes. It’s not just a one time and it’s over thing, it’s the one time it happens, it always comes back to punish the entire team. Over and over and over again.

Not getting a guy out on a basic pickle leads to extra runs.

Not catching a routine fly ball leads to 7 runs.

Lazy catching mechanics leads to extra runs.

Night in and night out, one little league mistake is a major problem that goes largely ignored

First time I’ve been invested watching a game in awhile.

Busch drops a tough but should be caught foul ball. Next pitch is a 2 run nuke.

Amaya inexplicably lets a ball go behind him advancing a runner from second to third. Next pitch is a sacrifice fly scoring the runner.

3 runs that never should’ve been on the board. Makes the game 3-2, Cubs win

It’s the little things, and this team does not give a flying **** about them. And I’m curious how much management explains that to these guys or if it’s a ho-hum try again tomorrow attitude

If the 2025 Draft Lottery were held today, the Cubs would have a 10.68% chance of getting the number 1 overall pick. Probably spend it on a backup catcher for Southeast Rhode Island Poly Tech Community College.

Last 3 first round draft picks, Shaw, Horton and Wicks. This organization deserves a lot of criticism but at minimum be accurate
