Who on the roster are teams willing to get much out of other than Bellinger? The rest are not worth much.

Depends on what direction they want to go. You won't get anything for bums like Wisdom Bote and a good chunk of the bullpen nor Hendricks who looks like he is toast now. Tauchman won't bring back a significant prospect but he's got some value. If you want to tear down the roster more and move some pieces still with team control Morel and Nico would bring back decent returns as would some of the young pitchers too.

May just be time to flush some of the dead weight blocking guys even if you get next to nothing back or eat some salary they are owed the rest of this year. Still gotta leave something in the cupboard if you sell but what good is loading up the farm system with prospects if you don't give them a fair opportunity when you call them up. If a limited bench role with this current roster is all there is then either we overvalued the players that are not winning games right now or we did a poor job evaluating talent that we've acquired in trades recently if they aren't good enough to play in the big leagues.

Ricketts stays out the way and, frankly, provides a baseball budget that should absolutely dominate the NL Central.

As has been said you just can’t make any selling make sense. This organization is so loaded up with prospects that adding more just means you’ll lose a few for nothing due to a 40 man crunch. This FO is in perfect position to add to the Major League roster, but it very well be too late before they’ll be able to do it. I’m just gonna laugh if that happens. Triantos or Rojas for a pure rental is insane. Teams don’t give up guys like that for rentals these days. Sahadev Sharma was talking about this on his podcast earlier this week. Even Turner and Scherzer didn’t cost elite prospects.

Problem is Tauchman is a guy you want to keep.

Why? If we were going to compete for a run in the playoffs yes but he's already 33 years old and we have several OF prospects with much more upside he's blocking. Just how much more production will you get out of him going forward than you will get from someone nearly 10 years younger and not in their prime yet.

It's thinking like this where some here think Tauchman Wisdom Madrigal etc are more valuable than they really are that is holding back from bringing up guys that could possibly be more productive once they make the adjustments to big league pitching. We aren't winning with these guys now so if moving some of them clears a path for a hot bat in Iowa to get a shot in Chicago there is more upside there than doing like we have been the past couple years where those hot bats get called up and barely get any at bats then get sent back down again. We finally have let PCA get some runway after doing that with him initially too.

I've said it before, it's nothing against Tauchman, I like him too but he's the 4th or 5th OF so if we are ever going to give any of the trio of OF in Iowa a fair chance he needs to be moved to clear a spot as Happ Suzuki and PCA are not getting traded. Bellinger could be traded if they want to sell or play him more at 1B but then you have to decide what is the plan with Busch.

Don't really have much for options internally at catcher so we are stuck with Gomes and Amaya for now. If we had someone close to ready Gomes would be expendable.

He grinds, 4 ABs with him is the equivalent of almost two innings off the pictures pitch count. We payed Swanson 175 or so mil and he goes up like he just came out of a vacuum.

I know the first part of the crosstown classic happened a week or so ago and the last Red Line double header this year is gonna happen next week.

But friends and I were discussing last night. Wouldn't it be sick to have the Cubs and White Sox play in a Double Header with one game at Wrigley and the next game at the Sox stadium in the same day? Could have a special express train on the Red Line for the players and multiple party trains heading down south.

Would be a cool and very hyped event in my opinion.

When he can't throw his splitter for strikes he's not been good. That's been the issue more frequently now unfortunately so he's become another guy in the bullpen that is hard to trust with a lead.

I’m pretty much done watching the Cubs this season. I’m following them from a distance, if anything changes, but they’ve pretty well told us exactly what they are — a team with overall good starting pitching, below average offense, below average defense, and a god awful dumpster fire of a bullpen.

Sure the offense could hit a hot streak, but that bullpen is absolutely gonna ruin it even if they do.

They need a lot more help than that to turn this around. They would help but team has more problems than just getting those 2 guys back to turn around the mess they are in.

This team has been tough to watch for the last month+.

I don't know what will happen but last year at this time the Cubs were 8 games under .500 and weren't over until July 27th.

They've basically had a good month and a bad month at this point. I think its hard to say we know exactly what they are.
