***Official 2024 Chicago Cubs Thread***

Agreed, I've been watching some of these prospects at Iowa lately and there is no Bryant, Scwarber, Baez, Contreras, Russell type prospects coming to save the day this time. I know our farm system is ranked high but I dont see how this is translating to any kind of success anytime soon.
We need to actually spend money during the off-season.

Bit surprised Cubs don't have a day get-away game today with them having to travel from Tampa to Chicago and then having a 1:20 pm game tomorrow vs. the Cardinals.

Pretty annoying the cardinals will be checked in and at dinner before the Cubs game even starts tonight

4 guys playing in Chicago should be playing in Des Moines and vice versa.

I don’t understand if your only job is to come in and throw strikes why you can’t seem to do it.

The hardest thing as a baseball fan- inconsistent relievers! Guys who can't get outs when the game is on the line, but look great in non-leverage situations.

Leiter is teetering out of the circle of trust.

Just for fun

Hendricks ($16 MM) Smyly ($10 MM) and Neris ($9 MM) are costing this team $35 MM this year.

Stars like Tre Turner ($27 MM) Corey Seager ($32.5 MM) Francisco Lindor ($34 MM) and Manny Machado ($31 MM) are all cheaper than those 3.

Why should Jed be fired? Because he’d rather spend a load on mid than buy the stars. Let your ******* farm churn out the mid. Go buy the certified studs. ****. Fire Hoyer.

I think he has 1 more year left on his contract. Will be interesting to see how Ricketts moves forward with the front office. The Theo/Hoyer regime seems to have run its course.

This team is just flawed in so many ways. There are pieces to build with but we are relying on mediocrity to exceed expectations. It's basically shuffling the chairs on the deck of the titanic right now hoping something stops the sinking ship. The Cubs are lacking star power in the heart of the lineup and there is not a single guy in the bullpen you can trust with a lead. The starting rotation is doing their job most nights to keep the game in reach of winning but either the offense fails them or the bullpen does.
