Ok, but I think you may be discounting how good Jelani Hamilton is/could be. Even if he has to play up to 12-15min, there might not be a big drop off in an emergency situation
good point as well. Admittedly, I kinda had forgot about him as an incoming freshmen. Which wasn't very nice of me. Go, Jelani!!

but all it takes is one injury again, then we're short of guards. Think we have to get a guard unfortunately, just to be safe. Anybody know why Jeremiah's came out so late? I mean, most eliminated teams players entered the portal in late March, early April.
We have Lipsey, the 3 transfers, Hamilton as well as Watson, Fish and Biliew who can play the three. I'd say the backcourt is pretty well covered. Oh, I forgot we also have a really good walk-on that can fill in a pinch.

Way up there
We have much better depth next year for guards and wings. We'll have 4 guards, 3 of which were recruited as PG vs only one last year. At wing we have minimum two players, probably 3 with Milan. Last year we ran with 5 at those 3 spots most of the year, this year we'll likely have 8 to man them. Bringing in a perimeter player just doesn't make sense.

Probably right. But i also do agree with other posters that a helpful '5' at this point that wouldn't want big NIL$ is pretty pretty slim. I suppose in the past, many would say 'bank' the scholarship, but not sure that's beneficial in today's game.

And what happens if Ward or Jones gets injured? Post defense and rebounding is already a bit of question mark. It gets pretty sketchy when one of them is not available for 15-20 minutes.
like I said to this earlier, good point. But haven't numerous posters claimed we will be using Tre King at the '5' some, too? I guess TJ & staff will know better than anyone if there is even anyone left in the portal that's affordable and fits a need whatsoever. ( I just always like to fill all the scholarships due to our situation last year.)

someone like him is probably going for north of 800K.

Could even be 7 digits.

Two things can be true. 9/10 times when someone leaves why does everyone assume it’s for playing time?

I’ll just sit back and watch my dumb reactions pile up

It's not all about money. However, any smart person in the world would take 800k rather than 20k. I mean we can offer a nice basketball program. However, why anyone would pass up 800K to play basketball at another school would be insanity. He may not be transfering because of money, He would be dumb not to take 800K from an Arkansas or Kentucky.

Which is absurd. I think there's a very real chance that the enthusiasm for NIL will diminish over time from those who fund it. Not only are the amounts crazy high, you see all sorts of examples where that money would have provided more actual value in fueling a campfire on the patio.

Exactly. It's not like he's taking $800k to go play for Oregon St. Any program offering $800k is also going to have great coaches, and likely a good chance at making a tournament run.
