Georgetown and Cal have better transfer classes than we do? Not good.
Oh, we were supposed to take guesses from a glorified blogger seriously? I thought it was all just throwing stuff on the wall. I will readjust my expectations.

I feel like a lot of transfers are a bit of a crapshoot. Especially when stepping up in competition. I more look at did we go get our targets and we pretty much did. Identified our guys and got them. We didn't have to reach on options C and D. Fit for a transfer is a lot more important imo

True, I guess I just figured teams coming off 2 successful Ncaa tournaments would attract better players than programs winning 5 or 6 games.

Both programs hired new coaches who wanted to get their players in and had tons of playing time available. Not to mention they didn't have a top 10 high school class coming in to compete with. ISU wasn't going to get a top 20 transfer class this summer, but still got a very good class for this roster.

I don't think you can really pay attention to those rankings. A lot of doing well in the transfer portal is about filling needs and getting the right fit. Also about what you can afford these days as well. I think the only thing missing from this transfer class is a 5 but good ones are expensive.

Jackson Paveletske has three years left to play and put up historical numbers for a freshman last year at Wofford. Keshon Gilbert has two years left and is actually projected by some to be drafted next year. Curtis Jones has two years and took/made more threes last year than anyone on our team.

We didn’t go after guys just because they were ranked high. That’s what some schools do (Iowa) and they end up having to place walk-ons on scholarship. We go after and get guys that are not only realistic but also that our staff has had previous relationships with.

The negative attitude you present on here is quite exhausting lol.

I also think if you look at it in terms of who transferred out vs who transferred in at ISU, ISU got better and I think getting guys that have multiple years left is huge.

I know one thing, I would take ISU's roster over Georgetown and Cal.

On3 lists Gilbert as the #17 transfer and Paveletzke as #26. I don't necessarily agree with their rankings but that just shows that people think highly of the transfers ISU got. and Like you said, guys with multiple years which makes them even more valuable.

We have a top 10 high school class remember. And the guys we got have upside potential with multiple years to play so that may not get ranked as high as a transfer with 1 year to play who will contribute more right away.

Ranking transfers is difficult. Need, fit, program stability, years of eligibility, NIL, previous playing level, etc. You could write an entire dissertation on all the variables that go into transfer recruiting.

In general, it's important for your staff to have a specific plan for the guys you are bringing in. TJ has done really well with this and as a result, got the most out of guys like Gabe, Jaz, IZB, Holmes, etc.

Georgetown has a ton of money to work with

Georgetown is also flipping an entire roster. They need to land multiple high level players to have any chance at success next year. Much like TJ's first year where we did really well with Gabe and IZB plus retained a high level high school recruit.

We hopefully are never in position again where we need to fill that many holes.

I hope we are NEVER in the top of portal rankings, that means we have a lot of holes to fill.

Plus I don't believe ISU will ever have the NIL $ to bring in elite portal kids
