***Official 2023 Chicago Cubs Thread***

It's hilarious to read the ******** on here every game, considering the odds of making the playoffs on June 1 vs today. I know most on this board are far more qualified then a life-long baseball man like Ross to manage a team, but I'm willing to let him ride out the season before Cubs management comes calling for one of you to take over. Lol

I don’t deserve an explanation but I would like one.

The DH has one job - hit the ******* ball.

We’ve wasted 3 subs in 3 innings to go 0-3 with 3 incredibly lazy and pitiful at bats. Anyone who has watched this team could have predicted that, especially out of Wisdom and Morel, so why waste the subs?

I don't have a problem with that pitch he hit there other than it needs to be in 6 more inches.

Gomes calling some questionable pitches with the wind blowing out and his pitcher tiring. Call a pitch middle/up and in and it misses right out over the plate. Brutal pitch call by a vet catcher.

You can't call that pitch when your pitcher is tiring and missing spots. Hendrix doesn't have the speed to get away with that. He misses and he gets hammered.

In general agree, I try not to ***** about another man’s job.

But every single Cubs fan with a brain knows immediately if a move Ross is making is a joke.

His lefty lineup? Joke.

Win the first 2 games of a series - Game 3 lineup? Joke

Pinch hitters are batting .217 this year. Joke.

Morel leading off after going on a 4-65 stretch? Joke.

Wisdom playing first despite showing he shouldn’t play first, costing you 2 games this year? Joke.

First reliever he brings into the game hitting a ******* bomb? Joke. But also, incredibly common.

Because his in game management? Joke.

Pitchers are missing spots but Gomes has made some questionable pitch selections. Multiple ones this inning alone.

If the team doesn't make the playoffs or loses the division at the end you can look this potential stretch of blown late game leads. Gotta bring these games home.

This is such a tired take. They’ve started winning games in spite of Ross, not because of him.

It doesn’t take a “life long baseball man” to see the obvious. They have lost games they should have won because of poor game management.

The sole redeeming manager quality Ross has is he is a great players coach. The guys by all accounts love him. This includes Bellinger, Swanson, and Hoerner, but also includes Wisdom, Morel, and Smyly.

He would be the best bench coach in the league.

Joe Maddon would frequently say he hates computers because of the information they CANT tell you. And part of me thinks that’s what Ross’ problem is.

Wisdom and Morel hit vs lefties because our front office, and Ross, have analytics that show their BAT PATH is the best option on the roster. Nevermind they’re hitting .200, strike out a ton, and are colder than ice at the plate.

But **** basic baseball IQ, the computer model shows they have a good swing path so damnit we’re going to start them!

Every game that goes by without Canario making an appearance yet looks poorly on how they chose to manage one of their hottest prospects. A player would never do this but if I were him I'd be pissed I'm riding the pine and can't even get a PH over Wisdom and Morel and would ask if I could go back to Iowa to actually play some.

I hope when this kid finally gets a PH or start I hope he does something special and Ross will be forced to play him next game or have to answer questions on why he sat him. Nelson Velasquez got messed up this way when he was hitting hot in Iowa then got called up and would have a big game only to get benched the next day and get erratic playing time. Go see what he's done since the Royals called him up. He's playing regularly with some decent results.
