My driveway didn't get done and probably wont for a while. My truck made it out and now I have tire tracks to follow. I had to shovel outside my business and my god was it cold.

Why not just floor it to get out of the driveway without cleaning it? Then clean the driveway later in the day or after work. Especially if it’s still snowing. And you have 24 hours to do the sidewalks too.

That’s what I just did to drop the kids off at daycare anyway. I’m not cleaning until it’s done snowing

I clear the drive before leaving since the tire tracks will pack in the snow and will be difficult to remove later. These will get slick.

10 minutes with a shovel takes care of the tracks.

Unless you absolutely HAVE to go somewhere.... why even clear the driveway? Stupid. I don't have to be anywhere today or tomorrow... I may not clear mine until the weekend. With this wind, it will look like you did nothing an hour after you clear it.

Not necessarily stupid to clear the drive if not leaving. With the blizzard conditions, blowing snow can make the top drift layers hard and thus more difficult to remove. The other thing is that if you’re expecting any deliveries and you want a clear drive/path for them.

I'm not planning to fire up the snow blower until Friday afternoon or Saturday morning. Snow may be done but the wind still will blow it around and I'm not going to be going anywhere until Saturday anyways so no thanks to going out in -35 wind chill right now just to watch my work go to waste when the wind blows the snow back in later.

I'm on the far SE side of CR and have no plans to rush outside and clean the drive. The snow is sideways right now and I have zero desire to eat snow for breakfast. I did make a quick run to the gas station, and the roads are passable.

It's not always as easy as 10 minutes with a shovel, at least for me. Usually it's packed so hard/becomes ice so my snow shovel won't even get under it/break it up. I prefer clearing a lane so I don't have to deal with that later.

Went to bed with about 3" of snow on the ground. Woke up to a pretty much clear driveway aside from a small drift against the garage door and a pile from the plow. Wind cleared the rest of the concrete.

Poor guy that has his house facing west at the end of the street is going to have a bad day. Wind is taking all the snow from our street and just piling it on their front yard and driveway.

We only got like an inch of snow so we’ll see how bad it gets in Waukee.

Furnace has been running constantly but blower doesn’t seem to be kicking in. Temp trying to maintain but starting to drop slowly in house. On the list for Wyckoff but they’re swamped and apparently have several techs out with the flu. It’s been nice knowing y’all.

Not exactly sure.

Well, if you live in an area where I do, the wind bends and will make a drift waist high or better if you wait, then add in the dirt that gets picked up from the field, because I live on the edge of town and you will have a rock hard waist high drift if you wait too long.

I bought some Kinco insulated gloves last year and thought they would do the trick, they didn't. My fingers were freezing. Any recommendations for gloves strictly for blowing snow?
If they’re good enough for the Iditarod, they’re good enough for blowing snow.

I use these personally for shoveling.

With as much traffic as my driveway gets. I try to keep it clean but its basically impossible. Always have a snow pack until it warms up and I can try to bust the ice up the best I can.

Need mittens in this weather. Optimal is a pair of thinner gloves with mittens over top to keep from losing heat if you need to remove the mittens to do something that requires dexterity. But no pair of gloves will ever match a good pair of mittens.

Put on a pair of rubber gloves before your regular gloves. Will really keep the hands warmer.
