Stay away from this product called safe-walk even after a year. It ate our driveway up and it was 3 years old.Just got a new driveway. No salt for a year.
I just built a new house a year ago and the guy who did our maintenance walkthrough of the house was adamant that we not use salt on our driveway or it would destroy it over time. I wasn't aware salt was that tough on driveways.Stay away from this product called safe-walk even after a year. It ate our driveway up and it was 3 years old.
Salt is tough no matter when but it takes one year for a complete cure. Under one year it will eat it fast. After one year, you can use it but you need to clear it off once it does its job (talking spreading it and then grabbing a cup of coffee and then clearing it off) or it will pit it. Safe walk did it even with the clearing. It’s hard to clear because it’s more powdery than most. They claim they don’t pit, but it’s BS.I just built a new house a year ago and the guy who did our maintenance walkthrough of the house was adamant that we not use salt on our driveway or it would destroy it over time. It 'helps' speed up buckling/heaving; by letting more water (melted snow) get underneath the concrete. I was told once by a concrete guy to avoid salt on your drive/walk if at all possible.I just built a new house a year ago and the guy who did our maintenance walkthrough of the house was adamant that we not use salt on our driveway or it would destroy it over time.
