Just by reading the discussion this thing sounds familiar to what happened in the DSM area almost 25 years ago to the day. Thundersnow......2-3" per hour rates. The two differences I see with this one is that there are no -25 degree temps on the horizon after it's over and the winds with this aren't forecast to be nearly as strong.

I had a dentist appointment I had to reschedule due to the last big snowstorm. My rescheduled date: tomorrow at 2pm. Seeing as my dentist is on the other side of town, I'll be rescheduling that too.

Maybe I should put that in June or something at this point.

I walked 4 blocks to my dentist last snowstorm. Uphill both ways in 4” of snow in 4 mph winds for a 4 pm appointment.:D:D:D

I’m not a trained professional by any means but from the progression of “raw” data snowfall maps (Earl, ISU Meteogram) it seems to me like yesterday the sharp cutoff on the north side of the storm was on a line at around Hwy 30. As of this afternoon/evening maps it has progressively moved to around Hwy 20. Don’t know if this is a definite trend that will continue or if it’s completely wrong. It doesn’t seem like the NWS has changed their area of snowfall one bit from yesterday afternoon. Only thing I can see NWS has changed it the snowfall amounts in the southern part of Iowa to a larger amount.

I am going to enjoy the upper 40’s and celebrate being able to see my grass on Tuesday while you crazy Iowans dig out.

What’s the update for metro (Waukee)? Seems some that show around 4-7 and others 8-12.

The temps you mention are why I continue to want to see these big weather events. Snow is great, and I like it especially when it happens during the light of day. What I hate is when it snows a little, then it’s followed by a brutal cold snap. That hasn’t happened...yet.

February is still out there though.
