***Official 2021 NCAA Tournament Thread***

No. There have been 2 times in which there was only 1 upset.

Thursday, March 16, 2000 (Friday only had 2 upsets) - Only upset was #10 Gonzaga 77 #7 Louisville 66
Friday, March 20, 2015 (Thursday had 4 upsets) - Only upset was #11 Dayton 66 #6 Providence 53

2000 had the fewest first round with 3, but had the most second round with 9.

2000 has to be one of the oddest tournaments for distribution of upsets throughout most of the tournament. Round 1 was almost all chalk, round 2 included two 1 seeds and three 2 seeds losing, Elite had and 8 vs. 6 and an 8 vs. 7, and two 8's went to Final Four.

With Virginia in a dog fight against Ohio, here is a reminder of the only 3 times that a defending champion has lost in the Round of 64:

Virginia's style has to make their fanbase pull their hair out. They can rarely put a team away. That's how the 16 over 1 happens. I'd take the national title and consistent top 10 ranking though.
