Tiny
Love me some undersized, high-usage guards...
Good pickup for KU. They've been struggling getting talent with the NCAA scandal
ISU recruited Aquan Smart HS. Originally from Illinois.
I mean we should be all over this one, right?
Have no clue if he's big12 caliber. Apparently Turgeon didn't play him much at all. (But, yes, interesting.. in before the remember the Naz jump/improvement from a freshmen comments.)
I should’ve added if Hunter opts out, this would make sense. Smart is a PG
I would be curious what is TJ's evaluation of Jackson, Walker, Coleman-Lands and Johnson. Does he see them as: PG's (primary ballhandler), CG (ballhandler/shooter) or Wing?
The reason I bring it up, relying 100% on Hunter seems to have risks. If TJ thinks he has a guy who can play PG already on the roster, then he focus can be on perimeter scorers who may lack ballhandling skills with the remaining 4 scholarships.
TJ's offense may leverage player skills differently than Prohm's offense, but I would categorize player positional skill as follows based on their play under Prohm.
Walker (CG) - there is potential he could play a lot of PG minutes, but last year his TO rate was just lower than Rasir and assist rate lower than Rasir.
Jackson, Coleman-Lands & Johnson - All wing players. None seemed to be great ballhandlers and guys who can run a half court offense.
If Smart can shoot, I don't think there would be any issue of having Hunter & Smart play together.
I liked Walker a lot. I think he could be good. Him having no structure, which is what Prohm’s offenses and defenses have been, has hurt some of these young guys. Guys like Jackson, Grill, and Walker all were thrown to the wolves and had to rely solely on their own talent, instead of scheme. At that age, you’re not going to be able to do that and be successful. You’ll look lost.I think Walker could make a big jump simply from having a full, normal offseason routine. I think he's enough insurance to wait out the Hunter decision without sweating too much (about anything other than Hunter's decision).

Does TJ reach out?
Does TJ reach out?
Does TJ reach out?
That would be a culture shock, Vegas to Ames.
