He'd be an obvious take and be a home run to fill a role with ISU as the B12 top half SF. ISU has a scholly to burn if need be and LJ would be a top 10 off season transfer if not for the issues.

That said there there is a bunch of risk here from the staff seemly only looking now out of desperation w/o previous recruiting connections I'm aware of, possibility he heads over seas regardless, and the obvious waiver situation of NYC to Ames (though I think his camp is convinced he's going to get one due to NYC virus #'s).
Really though it is the same situation as Gach, thus if you can get LJ you do and see how it plays out.
Completely agree. And I heard he had issues but couldn't find exactly what those issues were. Do you have any details about them that you could share?

Definitely not saying there isn't baggage with him, but that timeline could be explained as he started in Mass where he grew up, then went to prep school in FL. He committed to NMSU but then de-committed, went to a JUCO where he then ended up going to St. John's. Chris Mullin left after his first year and he wanted to transfer before coming back to play there, but decided he didn't like it there under Mike Anderson and now is looking elsewhere.

No doubt someone that has been all over the place, but maybe he hasn't found the right fit? He also could be the problem and doesn't fit anywhere, idk.

Not really, I haven't followed St. John much.
Think there were whispers he wouldn't qualify out of college and he was rumored to transfer multiple times prior to finally announcing due to friction with the staff (he didn't commit to Anderson tho). St. Johns actually stopped recruiting the Manmonth transfer due to LJ expected return only to have him do a 180 and transfer after Salanve committed to DePaul.
Pure speculation: Seems like a player who has multiple people influencing him. Getting to focustown could help but not sure the is ISU is a real option (for his advisors) or the staff is just feeling it out. If he did come to Ames, it would be a grab you nut cup situation til the season started. I'm in for it as there isn't going to be a better option.

I was told last year how great the team chemistry was on that team, the year before there was all kinds of issues within the team...talent wins

The "chemistry" on the team two years ago was not as bad as some seem to think it was. There was a rough stretch of two weeks where multiple things occurred and ultimately led to a couple of losses that should not have happened. Other than that, the team played pretty well together.

Once you are in the mafia, you are never really out.

His usage the past two years was 20.7% and 25.4%. Those are high generally but about what you expect from your best player, so no problem there.

Something like...

Harris
Bolton
Coleman-Lands
Figueroa
Young
---
Jackson III
Johnson
Foster
Conditt IV

...does not look half-bad.

It is not winning the Big 12, but it might finish fifth, which is all we need.

Not going to get my hopes up, we aren’t going to snag one of the most talented transfers left by getting involved weeks late.
