So we aren’t in this position because of misses on two Top 150 kids and 3/4 of the freshmen class leaving after a year but rather because over the course of two years we have had one guy leave for the lottery, one for the mid-second and one to play in the G League. I think it is a bit of a mixture of both. The freshmen class this year should be very good (it has to be) but I think it’s fair to say that we are in this tenuous position because of some misses.

Our misses are inline with the rest of the conference. Do a little homework before you spew conclusions. Look at 24/7 and report back on how many hits the Big XII has had from the 2018 class.

If Haliburton was a very good PG instead of a top 10 pick we'd be looking at this offseason completely different. C'mon he was a 3*. Losing him after two years is a bit of a shock.

As for 2019, we have Jackson, Bolton and Johnson returning. 2 probable starters and a rotation player.

Once again we are focusing on freshmen recruiting which was the question at hand. Anderson, Leech and Grill have to be all considered misses. We can compare transfer hit/misses as well but that wasn’t the question.
Secondly, I didn’t say anything about the misses for CSP simply indicated that the original poster who said CFH hit freshmen at a 25% clip was wrong. So perhaps you should take an opportunity to actual read the posts in their entirety before you spout off.
Finally, are we the only Big 12 team that loses people early to the pros? Did you expect Top 60 ranked High school kids (#35 LW and #57 THT) to be here for 4 years? Quite frankly 1.5 years is probably about the right average for expectation. Regarding Halliburton CSP would have never expected to be gone after two years when he recruited him. But after the end of his freshmen year he knew he probably wouldn’t have him for 3 years. So you have to recruit in that fashion. I think Dubar is going to be really good along with Blackwell.

Grill, left because he's far behind Bolton and Jackson. When Bolton committed his days were numbered.

Anderson was a Plan B as a safety after we missed on the legacy and Young was coming off injury. We now have Young, Conditt and Foster. Anderson was only going to be a one year safety net.

Leech was a bit off from the start, as you said Dubar and Blackwell fill this loss. I think they caused it.

2017 is the real issue. Only had 2 openings. LW in the pros, Lewis a bust.

Right now we have 4 guys coming in from 2020. 3 from 2019, 1 from 2018 and 1 from 2015. This is after the busts were sent packing. It seems like you'd be happier if Lewis and Griffin were still here. Two more bodies zero more winning.

Harris, Colman-Lands, and Kier, would be about as good as it can get right now.
Add Flowers for some pg help and it’s a hell of a class! Can Colman-Lands play pg? Not many pgs out there.

I think we’d have a very good year adding Flowers, Kier, Brown, Marcus Santos-Silva (no list, but he’ll have his pick).

But that’s fantasy for many reasons, for any staff. My more realistic hope:

Flowers, Kier (or Brown if he GTs), Harris or Walker, Perez.

How did Jaden Walker drop so drastically in the rankings? Did he get hurt or not play an AAU season? What happened. I think the kid may have way more potential than we are giving him.

Here is his rankings drop. Can't figure out what happened

Wait, a big drop in rankings is indicative that we’re underestimating his potential?

I don’t think many, if any, are doubtful of his potential. It’s his readiness to play as a freshman that people are sleeping on. Depending on who we sign, he’s going to have opportunity to play through freshman follies, like Jackson did imo

That is weird I don't remember him ever being ranked in the top 100 which that ranking would suggest he was. Looks like 247 must have initially overrated him maybe after seeing him in a weekend event. Probably never performed to that level afterwards.

Right. He’s got a ton of potential. But he likely struggled to play the way that got him ranked, or he didn’t progress, Remember that Zion went from a MVC recruit to KU offer over a great weekend.

Once concerning thing about this class actually is that 3 players have gone down in rankings the last year or so. Only Dubar has risen. Of course I think part of Xavier's drop was all the time he has been out with injuries.

I have had a lot of free time invested in watching Core4 Atlanta games on youtube. I still can't get a great feel for where he is at. Seems kind of (and I hate to say this) lazy. However, he is playing a ton of minutes so some of that may just be minute management. Honestly he plays more off ball with a 5 foot something not exactly mind blowing speed kid who has a really nice handle on the ball.

You have to remember that Blackwell's level of competition got stepped up in a big way this last year. He transferred to a really high level Florida prep school Blanche Ely.

Yeah, from what I have seen, the kid isn't a PG right away. He may develop into one but right now he should be off the ball.

Yep.. Welcome to AAU ball..A lot kids just go half ass at times and defense isn’t exactly stressed.

Jaden handles seems as good as TH was in HS.. which btw TH are average for a PG imo..TH struggles when a good defender is right on him. I see same with JW. But the kid is 6’5 and can shoot and is aggressive going to rim which I love..

He played pretty good competition when he was at Huntington Prep during part of his Junior year. And hasn't he kind of bounced around to different prep schools in Florida before this so I am assuming he was facing good competition there as well?
Either way, his ratings dropped before his Senior basketball season.
