NFL: *** Official 2012 NFL Draft ***

Roughly 16 hours later and I still can't believe Weeden was selected in the first round. I figured Tannehill would go 8th to the Dolphins, but didn't see Weeden going anywhere near the first round. Tannehill shouldn't have gone in the first round either for that matter, but I think most people at least expected that.

Weeden will be a good pro and he will be better than colt for sure. It was deff a smart, safe choice for the browns IMO.

I have a few thoughts:

-I would have been trading for picks in next years draft if they were past the second round. I just think this draft was very top heavy. You look at positions like safety and corner where you can usually get high value guys and they just aren't there. Throw WR in there as well as RB and there just aren't those guys. The lines don't even seem that strong. Maybe it's just me...

-I loved Seattles pick. I know everyone thinks they reached but I thought taking this risk was great. Irvin is a freak and could be a huge star.

-My Niners reached for a Jenkins. I hate the pick. I would have rather seen them grab Wilson because Gore is falling off and Hunter isn't an every down guy in the current offense. Otherwise I think they could have done something on the line. You have Davis, Moss, and Crabtree. you can make that work. You aren't throwing it all over with Smith anyway.

-I do like the backup QB options when you look at Foles and Keenum. Osweiler is a guy who could be like Tom Brady minus the experience. I think Keenum is in the league a long time. Maybe it's mostly as a backup but the backup QB is important.

-On Reiff-He isn't Buluga and IMO he will be good as a pass protector but I don't think you can run behind him. He is certainly a quality tackle but I don't know if you take a guy who, when compared to a lot of tackles, you can't just go straight forward with. If you need a tackle, though, you didn't have much choice.

This is the deepest draft at wide receiver I have ever seen. Jordan White is projected as a 7th to undrafted by some experts and when I saw him play, he reminded me of Marvin Harrison. He is not the biggest, fastest guy, but no matter how many guys you put on him, he some how gets open. CBS sports has Marvin McNutt as the 19th rated receiver and he will be a solid NFL player. Eric Page out of Toledo is rated the 25th best receiver and he will be solid too. This might end up being the deepest draft at the receiver position ever. I agree with this draft being top heavy at every other position though. As a whole, this is a pretty weak draft.

Broncos draft the player that is the polar opposite of the Chiefs pick..good pick, surprised as Elway said we would not draft a DT...liar.

Wow, I forgot the rams signed Cortland finnegan this off-season. He's an idiot but he is a good corner. The rams might have just made an awful unit a very good one

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Bears have greatly improved there receiver core. There biggest weakness. Cutler will be in the pro bowl this year, or be the next guy in. Marshall and now a guy with first round talent in the Jeffery. Jeffery would have been a first rounder this year if South Carolina had a QB.

Good pickup for the Bears. Cutler has to be happy to be getting him along with Marshall.

I was hoping Denver might move up and grab him. Hopefully Randle will still be there

Can't toss the ball to the receivers when you can't get a pass off.
Obviously I wanted them to get KO, but how could they pass on DeCastro and Zeitler in the first round? and Adams from tOSU as well as KO... for a FAT wide receiver. WHY would they trade up to get him in any case? It is so hard to be a fan sometimes..

Glad they got rid of Angelo, and LOVE emery's free agent picks, but come on. Apparently he learned to draft from Angelo.

Good point. Oline was right there with the WR core, but when Devin Hester is your starting receiver, you are hurting at the position bad. He was a nickle corner in college and a backup receiver. I think his Junior year at Miami he may have ended up being the number two corner, but still. Hester has been a great player, but only at special teams.
