NFL: *** Official 2012 NFL Draft ***

I know it's only Day 1 of the draft but I'm happy with how it went. We needed a safety and trading up to get Smith may prove to be a smart move.

Bulaga was longer and was one of the smartest tackles I have seen come out of college. He knew exactly how to play the position. Reiff is not smart, and he is not strong enough in a straight line to be a great guard. Sorry Iowa fan, there is a reason he fell down the draft board.

Didn't he get picked at the same exact spot Bulaga did? FYI Reiff was a better college player than Bulaga.

For the NFL's sake, it is a good thing you don't evaluate talent for a living. He didn't fall either, he was the second tackle picked which is what ''experts'' projected him as. If he was the 4th or 5th tackle picked, then that would go under falling.

I'd take the Geogia o-lineman here. 3rd best tackle with the last pick in the first? yes please.

Or they could go running back. Some good tackle prospects going into the second round tomorrow.

He and Bulaga are very comparable by all accounts. Bulaga had more polished foot work but Reiff is more athletic and has more upside. If you have something legitimate to counter with that would be great...other than your opinion. I'm stating what the experts are saying. He is strong enough straightline when he doesn't have to worry about the speed rush around the outside. He got beat one time last year on a bull rush...he normally buried guys that bull rushed him.

I have a few thoughts:

-I would have been trading for picks in next years draft if they were past the second round. I just think this draft was very top heavy. You look at positions like safety and corner where you can usually get high value guys and they just aren't there. Throw WR in there as well as RB and there just aren't those guys. The lines don't even seem that strong. Maybe it's just me...

-I loved Seattles pick. I know everyone thinks they reached but I thought taking this risk was great. Irvin is a freak and could be a huge star.

-My Niners reached for a Jenkins. I hate the pick. I would have rather seen them grab Wilson because Gore is falling off and Hunter isn't an every down guy in the current offense. Otherwise I think they could have done something on the line. You have Davis, Moss, and Crabtree. you can make that work. You aren't throwing it all over with Smith anyway.

-I do like the backup QB options when you look at Foles and Keenum. Osweiler is a guy who could be like Tom Brady minus the experience. I think Keenum is in the league a long time. Maybe it's mostly as a backup but the backup QB is important.

-On Reiff-He isn't Buluga and IMO he will be good as a pass protector but I don't think you can run behind him. He is certainly a quality tackle but I don't know if you take a guy who, when compared to a lot of tackles, you can't just go straight forward with. If you need a tackle, though, you didn't have much choice.

Well tonight was worthless. Denver better make some great picks with these lower round picks.

Elway must have not seen anyone late in the first round that he really liked to trade back twice. With six picks in the next three rounds I see them addressing a lot of needs. They need a few defensive tackles, a receiver and running back and a QB to groom behind Manning, maybe a corner. Now they have a lot of quality picks to go after those positions
