Notre Dame to ACC as partial member

My brother is a huge ND fan. Personally I would love to have had them join us, but something must have been wrong with the deal for the B12 not to have taken them up on it. Notre Dame games guarantee a see out unless you are Baylor

Either I'm really underestimating the ACC's yearly attendance revenue/tv revenue or you're really overestimating it. Could be either honestly.
I don't know enough about the ACC's finances to know this but the only way I could see FSU leaving for the Big 12 is if the additional revenue gained by switching far outweighs the additional travel costs. They won't leave for an extra couple million a year but an extra 5-10 million it's certainly possible.
Teams have not signed yet, so if FSU and Clemson want out they have a window.
If I were a Georgetown or Villanova I'd be real ****** about this development. Maybe ND basketball doesn't add a lot of value to a conference like the Big 12, but the basketball only schools just saw themselves lose another quality conference opponent because the conference decided to favor the likes of USF football instead of what it built it's brand-name on. The basketball schools really need to push to break off into their own conference. I doubt they see much, if any of that football money and I'll bet they could steal the top-end of the A-10 and still be a conference that fetches a good TV contract from ESPN. Shoot, if the likes of Louisville and UConn want to pull all their sports minus football from C-USA2.0 and join as well, I'm sure they'd be happy to have them. But continuing to see teams like Syracuse, Pitt, and ND leave and get replaced with crap like SMU is hurting their basketball product. When do the basketball schools say enough is enough and try to get out of a bad situation?

Notre Dame can't steal the Orange Bowl from anyone the way I read the press releases. Notre Dame will share in the ACC's non-BCS bowl lineup, but not in the Orange Bowl itself.
This really has to be sour grapes for DeLoss Dodds. He publicly stated for quite a while now how he wanted ND in the Big 12 and how it was only a matter of time before it happened. Couple that with the flop so far that is the LHN, and things haven't been the best down in Austin for big, bad Texas.

i just don't see any single school, or combination of schools, that would dramatically improve our $20M/school deal as a 10 team conference.
kbohls @kbohls Texas AD DeLoss Dodds told me two years ago ACC was saving last two spots for UT, Notre Dame. Guessing Irish picked ACC for easier BCS path.

"In any short-term way there's no financial benefit," the official said. "If we wanted to do something for money we would have joined the Big Ten. What it's really about is postseason play."
The official added: "It's a really good fit academically. There are sports that we're going to play, the non-football sports are very good and they're going to test us."

That is BS. The way I see it...this only partially closes the door for the 4x16 model...and that is IF ND eventually joins the ACC for football. That is a big "if".
Is it still $20M after the deal that was announced on Friday?
The big question on ND: Does this trigger renegotiation of the ACC's media deals?
Smaller questions: Does this and the earlier unrest (FSU and Clemson) drive the ACC to expand further? Could they pick up the other pieces in the Big East and be the first to 16? Might be a smart move on their part to make sure they are one of the four 16 team conferences.
