It was pretty entertaining reading the posts on this thread. It seems like many of you are putting your eggs in the "We pounded a team that beat NDSU last year" basket ergo we should pound you worse. Wow. Nice logic.
Just so some of the facts don't get lost in the rhetoric, here are the defensive stats for NDSU last year in their first year in the Missouri Valley Football Conference (arguably one of the toughest in FCS):
No. 1 in Pass Defense at 116.8 yds per game.
No. 1 in Total Defense at 254 yds per game.
No. 1 in Pass Defense Efficiency at a 113.3 efficiency rating.
No. 2 in Scoring Defense at 19.2 points per game (behind UNI at 17.7).
No. 5 in Rushing Defense at 137.2 yds per game.
So it's one thing to blab on about how we should be able to hold our own against your far superior athletes who are so much bigger and athletic than we are and another to back up our projections with the facts. You pounded SDSU last year because they were terrible defensively. We won't be. Our defense is well coached and hungry. They won't disappoint. This game will be closer than you guys think.
Let me refresh your memory, you lost to SDSU, last game of the season, at home.
Most teams play better as the season progresses.
We lost to K-State in a awesome offensive game of almost 500 yards offense.
True our defense did not play well.
New coordinator very experienced bunch of juniors and seniors returning.
Your in our stadium, opening day, with a coach who dreamed of returning here and leading our team.
Not using us as a stepping stone. :notworthy:
We will play well, hard, and win.
I don't care by how much,
I care that CPR wins,
I care that our players win,
I care that
THE CYCLONE FANATICS EXPERIENCE THE JOY OF VICTORY AGAIN.
:arghh:
