North Dakota St. Game?

lakesbison: Tell us a little about your team this year from your perspective. It seems you lost some good players.

I've been hearing that they have lost their starting QB and RB. I've also heard that they've lost their top WR by means of the coach kicking them off of the team. IIRC, they've lost they're top defensive folks.

I think it's safe to say that everyone who picked this game to be close or even picked NDSU to win, hasn't done their research any further than they beat Minny a couple years ago and have been competitive with some other BCS schools in the past. Put it this way, SDSU beat them last season and we kicked their faces in.

This. I work with a bunch of NDSU guys. They have been tough in the past, but they have lost a lot of players to graduation, and to a few off the field issues.

#2 NDSU was better than SDSU last year, dont let that last game fool you, it didn't mean squat to NDSU

We haven't heard this one before...:jimlad:

I will say that when they were DII, they went through a string of National Championships. My High School Football Coach was a QB there with one of those teams.

1990--Chris Simdorn

All of that said, being a MN guy I've heard of the program. Nationally, I can see why they don't have the recognition.

Not saying anything about our game with them except I'd expect to win by a good amount. Just showing my connection to the program.

There's no excuse for it to be close.

Is there any combination of:

native Iowan, graduated #1 in his class in hs, closest thing to McCarney you can possibly have, be patient, optimism, Iowa game following week, and Gene Chizik sucks

That can make an excuse?

Looking forward to coming down to Ames for the game.

Cyclones should win this game (85 to 63 schollies), but the Bison can win this one.

Our defense will be our strength this year....tuff,smash you in the face defense. DL- will be good, although we'll have a starting DE suspended for this game LBs- adequate, Cyclone short passing game might do very well; DBs- good, not overly big in size

Offense might struggle in this game. Good OL and RBs but WRs will be very inexperienced. QB had a poor year last yr but the OL didn't help him out much. If he manages the game, the Bison can have a very good year.

Bison will try to run the ball with a lot of play action passes.....not a vertical passing team.....west coast offense.

If the Cyclones think this is going to be a cakewalk of a FCS team, then they are in for a surprise. Central Michigan won the MAC 2 yrs ago and we beat them 44-14 in their house. This is a different Bison team now but the philosophy is the same....run the ball, stop the run and play hard.

Looking forward to a good game.....:yes::yes::yes::yes:

How are the Cyclones going to be this year??

No offense at all, but SDSU fans were coming on here and making arguments like above last year.

I made a guest appearance on the SDSU forum and made many enemies (ironically, they should I was a NDSU fan posing as a Cyclone Fan, since there was a "mplsbison" on the NDSU board). On their board, they had people predicting not only SDSU winning but silencing the crowd after their first offensive possession....

We made SDSU look like a high school team. I am sure we'll do the same to you guys too, even if we only win a handful of games...

Those are excuses as to why ISU fans should not go looking for the highest bridge they can find...not excuses for why it should be close/a loss.

It was a joke. I am hoping we can get to a point where we don't need a jimlad to make a joke on here, but I guess that won't happen.

CiClone and others:

#1. So Dakota St hadn't beaten NDSU at home since 1952, so they were DUE last year.

#2. Whatever SDSU fans talked on your website, etc, NDSU fans like myself have 1 thing on our side: TRADITION>

NDSU has been there, done that, NDSU hasn't been blown out in a few years.

NDSU in FBS games is 3-4 points from being 5-0 in last 3 years.

NDSU is confident, our fans might be cocky, but we can back it up. We will pound you and pick you up after the play.

QB/RB/WR - Sen. QB Nick Mertens wants to rebound
RB's Pat Paschall/DJ Mcnortan & Matt Voit are solid
WR's = big question mark, lost 2-3 guys

OL - Incredible, Keith Buckman is all american, all experienced.

DL - Solid Solid Group, couple of seniors will not be pushed around

LB - last 2 MLB's are in the NFL, but return a STAR freshman *preston evans* & 5th year Tyler Henry

DB - #1 in FCS, fast, solid kids, best unit on team.

Coaches - Bohl got rail-roaded at Nebraska, and he knows the Big 12 and Big Games. NDSU will be coached to control line of scrimmage and the ball and WIN 21-17.

see you there!!

I'll put it this way: Last year's ISU team, w/two QBs who had a total of about 20 snaps between them SLAUGHTERED a team that beat NDSU last year. ISU returns most of their weapons, including a settled QB, and a solid running game. NDSU loses most of their difference makers.

If this game is closer than 2 TDs, I'm going to be very scared about the rest of the season, and the Rhoads regime in general.
