Nightmare scenario (Iowa)

I NEVER want to play Iowa. Yes... we would beat them 9 times out of 10 without a problem probably.... but I've been a Cyclone fan too long (50 years now)... to even want to mess around with that 1 in 10 chance they could knock us out and having to deal with Iowa fans all year. No thanks to that BS!

I don't ever want to play Iowa in the NCAAs, simply because I don't want to add the rivalry aspect to the normal stress of March Madness games. But it feels like we worry about this every year, and makes us look insecure when we have one of our best teams ever.

FWIW Iowa is a solid 9 on Bracket Matrix.

Anyone else like me nervous about the possibility of Iowa dropping to a 10 and getting placed in our bracket, setting up a possible second round matchup? I know we would beat them 4/5 times, but they would slow it down and find open guys out of our traps. Stirtz shot making can be truly elite. I’m just hoping the committee avoids this even though they don’t have to. What a horrendous way that would be to end this season.
I’m not the least bit concerned about Iowa. They are a favorable matchup with much less talent than Miami, Kentucky or UCLA.

Yeah for all this hand wringing about Iowa as a 10 - the projected 7 seeds are no slouches.

Again - we were all worried about Drake. Then Wazzu gave us a game before we pulled away late in the second.

Can't see them putting Iowa in St. Louis as a 10....would be giving a 10 a geographical advantage over a 2...tho guess they kind of did that with Drake.

Bigger reason is the early rematch.

If a 10 seed gets to play as close to home as a 2 then the committee really messed up.
That's literally how it works after the Top 4 seeds. Teams are placed closest to home while respecting other bracketing rules. Top 4 seeds are only geographically protected in the first round.

I saw a projected Kentucky 2-7 match up. I know they aren’t scary on paper. But facing that type of talent would be a concern

I guess the bottom line is that it’s hard to imagine the committee doing something this crappy to a 2 seed. No team would want to face their intrastate rival that they’ve already beaten once early in the tournament. That should be a given.

Sounds like they are taken into consideration the tight athletic budgets and putting teams closer to home. Also heard on one of the podcasts that charter flights are expensive, so trying to get more teams within bus driving distance

The schools aren’t paying for travel. NCAA does. The issue Blum brought up was lack of charter flights.

I am sure TJ hasn't slept a winking knowing this could happen.

Just look how they have absolutely embarrassed the Quad 1 teams they have played.

I honestly appreciate the dumbs and laughs about my posts because I hope you are right and my fears are paranoid. I’m just wondering what people think is so improbable, the committee putting us close together or Iowa beating us like they almost did in December on our home court.

Your post has two reaction emojis, relax lol
