Nick Babb

I would hope we're past that point. Fred said himself just last week that we won't give out scholarships just to fill spots.

Ranked 167 composite out of high school on 247, I don't think Nick and KJ are in the same category as far as just to fill spots goes.

Ejim was 182 for comparison's sake.

Fits into the Demarcus Phillips, KJ Bluford, Sledge, Okoro slot.

Arkansas fans were pretty shocked to see him transferring, and most expect him to go to SMU and play for Larry Brown. Rumor is he wanted to be closer to home. Apparently he was great in practice but Anderson didn't play him much in games which frustrated quite a few of them.

Definite potential there, expectations were for him to be a starter by his Jr year. Good thread on him leaving on the Arkie message board.

Good thing that defense can be taught then. My goodness some of you would cry if you were hung with a new rope.
So our coaches just haven't been teaching anyone since Chris Babb left?

And yes I would cry if I was being hung by any kind of rope. But new would be worse as it is less likely to break one would assume.

Bluford N/A

What does this tell us?

Absolutely nothing other than he's higher rated than those you listed and some current/past players that played, some of them were kind of good.

As a 6'5" guard, he seems like he would be a great fit as a 3 in our system. If it was obvious that he was as talented as his brother, this would be a no brainer. Fred will have to decide if Nick has the potential to be as talented as his brother.

He's a 6'5", 196lb guard. If he has decent speed and with that size, all he has to be able to do well is play defense. Develop an outside shot and we have Chris Babb 2.0. Worth the risk, IMO.

6'-5", 196? Visiting Spring Game.

WR??? TE???

:jimlad:

I would love to have another Babb. Chris had good work ethic, was a good student, and teammate. If nick can bring that then I'm cool with it. I think some school like Drake would be better for Nick. But I'm all for it if he wants to be a cyclone.

6'5" is an ideal size for 2 guard. I bet he (or Chris) already reached out to Fred. Nick just needs 25-30lbs of muscle and he would be identical size to Chris.

Why Drake? Nick Babb was more highly rated out of high school than Chris Babb or Melvin Ejim. There is nothing to indicate he couldn't be just as good as those 2 players and no guarentee that he will be a good player.

He didn't crack the rotation for a Top 25 team that was dominated by upper classmen and a Sophmore SEC player of the year. Freshman Melvin Ejim wouldn't have cracked that rotation.
