Nick Babb

Except pretty much every freshman we go after is highly regarded in terms of rankings and offers. If he had a different last name people would be freaking out on why were bringing him on campus. Fred hasn't really gone after 4 year "role players" for quite some time

Except guys ranked or highly regarded like Custer are not proven. And CF freakouts due to ignorance being conventional is meaningless.

Babb is not a "can't miss" guy- the time to get those has passed, particularly due to Abdelmassih leaving. Projections will be relied on. The staff is likely able to have a more accurate projection on Nick Babb as any other recruit.

Explain how MA was so vital in getting us can't miss guys. We have gotten one that I can think of. No transfer could be called can't miss. I don't think any of our HS recruits, when recruited, were even close to can't miss.

No transfer could be called a can't miss? Lol. Sure, no recruit is truly a can't miss.

But if that is your view than CyTwins has nothing to worry about with Nick Babb.

Abdelmassih was key in the recent transfer recruiting. This year likely may be different than recent springs.
Babb is no more unproven in fitting Hoiball to this staff than Booker.

Booker is probably your closest comparison but he was a top 50 recruit out of HS. Booker also had a lot more to evaluate on in college since he played a lot more, granted it was on a worse team. I think we all know if it wasn't for his last name we wouldn't be bringing him on campus, don't know why I'm getting attacked for being realistic. I agree role players need to be on your team but Fred hasn't gone the transfer route to get them before.

High school rankings for transfers, how special.

We are not brining him because of his last last name. We are bringing him in for further look because we know his game and possibilities, due to him being close to the program for several years. Happens a lot. We did not go to IHCC games to recruit Hogue, but after missing on some other recruits we began to notice a guy that could help the program.

You realize Cliff Alexander is going to get drafted because of his HS ranking, not because of what he did at Kansas right?

Great role player with the chance to develop into a decent player. Not everybody we take with 8 or 9 open scholarships over the next two cycles is going to set the world on fire on paper. If he impresses on Sat, he'll get and likely accept an offer, if not, he got a chance. I think he could really impress some people given the right opportunity.

What's the rule on coaches watching recruits workout during their visit?

Isn't it that they can workout with current players, but the coach can't watch?

TJ is a better recruiter, end of story the Cyclones will be just fine.

If Nick has the same work ethic his brother has, he would be a fine addition to this team and I would be happy to get him

If an NBA GM drafts Cliff Alexander, they should be fired IMO.

Completely agree. Alexander will likely get drafted just because some scout will convince some poor GM of "Potential". If Alexander goes in round 1, the Owner of that team should immediately fire the GM on the spot. Alexander has zero potential in the NBA...zero. Kid is lazy, **** poor attitude, zero and I mean zero outside shot, too short to play PF. That's just the start. Kid dunked on 6'3 HS kids and everyone thought he was the next Hakeem.

This. TJ is one of the better recruiters around IMO. I'd take N Babb. Especially if he can guard someone. He's the SDW replacement. Prob better given he will have 3 years left. With TJ I think we start widening that net a little to top 100-150 kids a lot more. We've been going for broke on top 10 kids the last two years, Hs wise, and in doing so we've missed I think on what could have been a couple real good 4 star kids. Maybe it just seems that way idk. I know for 2016 we have been recruiting 6-8 top 30 kids for years..the good news there is we need to land a couple cause if we don't we are screwed. Lol.

I would take NB on this team in a heart beat. I love Fred's system but if you don't think we need a couple lock down defenders on the team for those times when a team slows down our pace or we simply need to shutdown another team's star you are foolish. Shots are not always going to fall. When they don't you need to be able to put defense on the court. I love players like GN but be honest, I could score on him.

You mean you would take CB.
