NFL: NFL Offseason Thread

Exactly right. It's too bad that AP continues to draw this out as more and more Viking fans are joining the "tired of the Adrian antics" camp. Roger and co. really screwed up Peterson's "suspension", but now AP is looking bad all on his own (with his agent's help).

This. With as painful as he and his agent have tried to make this offseason for the Vikings, there's no way Minnesota gives in now(or during the season), and gets nothing for him. It's become too big of a standoff for that. Maybe after the season, they'll try for a trade again, and if they still can't get much for him, they'll cut him. But that scenario likely only comes up if he plays poorly, in which case, he's not going to be in line for a very big contract anyway. AP is going to lose this fight, one way or another. The sooner he accepts that, the better for everyone.

Peterson's stance now is that he wants to play for the Vikings and all this nonsense is just because he wants to secure his place with the team. Of course everything he and his agent have done these last 6 months is contrary to that.

And if Minnesota wants to come to the table, and discuss a cheaper contract with more guaranteed money, then that's their call. Ending this with the least amount of acrimony would be my preference, for sure. That's the Vikings call, though. And Petereson's for that matter. If they do offer him a new contract, it won't be anything close to what he's making this year.

I agree, this whole circus needs to end sooner than later.

Congrats on winning the afc west in May.

Maybe we can land a wildcard spot if we're lucky.

Losing Clady sucks with the current state of our offensive line but he missed most of the season in 2013 and Denver still went to the Super Bowl so I'm not throwing in the towel yet. How good Denver will be all depends on Manning's health.

I definitely think the Raiders are on the road back but still a year or two away.

Definitely. They could be a competitive team this year which would be a step in the right direction for a change, and Derek Carr had a pretty good rookie season and he looks like the long term answer at QB. Still a lot of holes up and down the roster, though.

AD is back. That's at least something to smile about. Hopefully it means that things will get handled a little less publicly going forward, when it comes to him. He wants some guaranteed money? I say, rework his deal. 3 years at the most, for less money overall, but give him some guaranteed cash. The current contract was bound to be an albatross at some point. Who could have predicted it would have been in the Vikings favor, though?
