Part of the reason it took so long to get the white helmets was because of this catastrophe:

Back in 2007 you didn't switch up pants as often. Oh the horror.

It seems to me Chizik was pushing hard for white helmets for the 2008 season but that was when ISU was in the campaign of changing the cardinal (darker now) and gold (more gold rather than yellow) and adding white would have been too much.

Yeah, I took a dive there on the price. I got it off Fanatics. I first saw it when they sent out their little care package and couldn't find the shirt anywhere.

I did get free shipping..just not next day or even next week!

Agree. The white helmets are just plain awesome. This is a close second for me:

I like the new stenciled white helmet, but I think I like the full cardinal/gold logo, like on this pic, with the white helmet better. They also increased the size of the logo for the stenciled version. If they'd increase the size of the cardinal/gold logo on the white helmet, then I think it'd be really great.

Now a stenciled cardinal logo on a yellow helmet would be superb, and probably a stenciled yellow logo on a cardinal helmet would be my preferences.

I agree. I would rather see gold helmet, and while I understand the old ISU colors were black and silver for a short while** in 1890s (before such things were a big deal), I think it is confusing and especially won't be great if we lose. Army and the Raiders can pull it off.

But yes, I think this is what the constant black/silver sideline wear from Coach Campbell is telegraphing.

Love the concept, but I think they should have kept the normal stripe from the white helmet with the stencil logo. the different stripe pattern on the helmet from the jersey and the pants looks a little strange. Standalone, though, I love the helmet.

The top two are both excellent. I think an updated version of that interlocking ISU would be better than the I-State logo.

Helmet is my least-favorite part of the package, too. I'm guessing the goal was to mimic leather helmet, for era-authenticity.

Much better than the Trice-attempt a few years ago. And more authentic, from what I've read, about actual jerseys being yellow w/ gray stripes. Two other mock-ups from Cyclone Uniforms for that, with a white and a gray jersey, but not as good as this.

this was okay. if there was white in the jersey it would have tied things together a lot more. maybe white stripes and a white number

I agree but I'm pretty sure they were just going through combinations, you can't just change or modify jerseys any ol' time. Hopefully we see some infused into the cardinal jerseys in the future to help support the continuance of donning the white helmets.

Speaking of helmets, particularly for the Texa$ game, let's revisit the toweled mannequins. Does anyone else think the helmet on the left looks like cardinal chrome/reflective, somewhat similar to what Louisville has worn recently?

I think the visor is giving off more reflection, so it appears "chrome".

These new uniforms are absolutely the ugliest uniforms in college football today. I thought our school colors were Cardinal and Gold. It's hard to keep up with what our colors as they keep changing. McCarney wanted to add blue, know the predominant color is a charcoal grey. I loved the uniforms from a couple of years ago. It also appears that our school log has changed again, referring to the logo on the white helmets. Even the red color is not the school sanctioned color of cardinal; it’s more of a bright red like Nebraska. It seems like ISU is never satisfied with their school colors, logo, etc. It’s really hard to get behind a team that the school can’t decide on a logo, colors or a uniform. Maybe that is why other schools support their teams so well, because they can identify with their schools identity. Iowa State does not have an identity that we can identify with. I expect a lot of negative criticism from this post.

How many schools change their logos, helmets and uniforms as often as Iowa State does??
