I don't think he was supposed to play much of a role in this movie anyways.
I don't think any of the original cast were supposed to play a significant role. The omission does seem kind of obvious, and based on J J Abram's history it is with a purpose.
And how she's on the Dark Side of things. Man I could dissect this thing for hours. Can't wait to have a nerd boner party of one tonight in the man cave watching the trailer over and over for 2 hours while my wife cries downstairs!

The fight scenes with the fighters looked really good. But I think this trailer shows the reason for the name of the movie, the force awakens. It sounds like the Galaxy has forgotten about the force, the jedi, and the dark side/sith.
