So surely if the season starts this week without Big10/Pac 12 they can't keep ranking those teams right?

We're currently 23rd AP but 15th in teams who will play?

Coaches 25th but 16th in teams that will play?

Yeah it would seem absurd to rank teams that aren't playing. How can you judge a participant that doesn't participate.

Similarly, will we see B1G teams move up in the CFP rankings as teams above them actually play and lose?

Some SEC and Big 12 teams sitting at .500 or even a game below late in the season should probably be ranked. That'll be interesting to see.

Considering the number of teams not playing this season, I wonder if they would do a top 15 or something to keep the ranked group somewhat exclusive.

Yea it would seem logical to only publish a top 15 instead of 25.

Doesn't make sense for a ranking to show .500 or below teams.

Could be, but when a couple 2-4 teams ranked in the Top 25 play each other, tough to convince fans that is a great matchup.

Nobody with a 2-4 record will be in the Top 25. This will benefit G5 teams more than anyone. Teams like Louisiana that have a strong record with a weak schedule will get those 16-25 rankings instead of a 2-4 Texas Tech team.
