Nebraska Fail

I'm sure the money/stability at the time was great. Also the ability to stick the middle finger to Texas. However, you can't tell me most Nebby fans are happier in the Big 10. They've lost their Texas recruiting footprint. They are an afterthought now.

They are a less sexy Minnesota.
I was just going to compare them to Minnesota. Yeah. That's basically what they are right now. If Frost flames out, they're looking down the barrel of a long period of irrelevance

I wonder from a football standpoint if Nebraska just figured their brand would take care of recruiting when they decided to go to the Big 10. Losing the Texas footprint seems like such a huge oversight. Iowa State can go into a kid's living room and tell Mom and Dad that each year they'll get to see their son play twice in the state of Texas (and also once in the state of Oklahoma). Huge selling point.

The problem hasn't been recruiting though.

I am a very caring and empathetic person....ask Taylor Swift. But after watching Frosty in post-game interviews....NOT for this guy and program. No sympathy for him and I can't even go into the abrasiveness of his comments.
ROW The BOAT baby. Go Gophers.

I can't feel sorry for Douche McGee at Minny either though.

Yep I agree we would because we’re like tier 6 when it comes to recruiting. This is t 1997 a couple four stars every class doesn’t get you any where close to even the second tier of teams in their own conference like PSU let alone the top tier teams like Michigan and OSU.

You have to remember the delusion level we’re dealing with in the fan base and program. They think they are on the same level as OSU, Bama, Georgia, OU, etc.

You had me until the bolded because then I couldn't tell if you were talking about Nebraska any more.

Yup, so much for Iowa's annual 'big rivalry
game' with Nebraska on Thanksgiving. Nobody cares.

Sorry if already posted, but if you want a laugh:

Here's a great response to someone asking why anyone would conspire against Nebraska:

And he goes on:

So, long story short, the Big 10 brought Nebraska into the league, but wanted them to suck. And they've been really successful in keeping the huskers down... except in volleyball.
Just...wow. Replace Ohio St/Michigan/PSU/Wisconsin with Oklahoma/Texas and they’ve been crying the same thing for 20 years.

The idea that the entire Big10 wouldn’t benefit from the success a purportedly national brand in the division widely regarded as the weakest in the Power 5 is seriously next-level delusional thinking.

The Husker fanbase is filled with spoiled children. They’ve already taken their toys and left one conference when they couldn’t win it every other year or so and there were no indications that was about to change any time soon. They’ve already fired two relatively successful coaches for not delivering the conference and national championships they deserve. What are they going to do next?

Firing Solich, hiring Callahan, moving to the Big 10, firing Pelini, and hiring Riley were only symptoms.

Both the fanbase and the administration have failed to adapt to the changing landscape of college football.

Once you take away the ability to stockpile talent with a crazy number of scholarships and can't take on players with very questionable character the playing field begins to flatten

Next thing you know you look out the window and realize your school is in a small Midwestern state with **** weather....just like everyone else.

His wife Tits is a nice lady though

Moving to the B10 wasn’t Nebraska’s problem. Firing Pelini and then hiring Mike Riley was their problem.
Expecting the last half of the 1900s is their problem.

College football has changed. Tommy and Co knew the run was over and wisely went with getting paid. Out-spending other programs is the only way NU will stay even remotely relevant.

There was a good thread on one of their message boards arguing about whether the BIG move was good or not. The best being the argument that the reason they are losing is because the Big10 is so much better. The only rationale is that because ISU is one of the better teams in the league, therefore Big12 must suck. I know I trust the eyeball test from the dirthead bugeaters over every power ranking system imaginable that all conclude that the Big 10 west has been pure trash since Nebraska joined.

To be fair, plenty of their fans understand that it was due to poor coaching hires. However, I find it surprising that most think their recruiting is the main reason. It's not as good as it was, but they've been in the 20s pretty much every year for the last few. To be this bad with top 25 recruiting classes suggests some major coaching and culture problems.

Also funny they don't see the connection with acceptance of partial qualifiers and winning.
