For me it would all depend on what Monte does. If he has any inkling that Monte is going to move on after this season I would play. This would be his shot at possibly playing in a National Champ. If we get to the National Champ or close Monte is probably gone anyways.

I see if I can find he article and I'll link it later if I can, but I was reading NBA scouting reports on sweet sixteen teams, and they said it would be best for Monte to come back. They said he needs a little bit more muscle and one more year to develope won't drop his stock but only improve it.

I also think It also gives him the team next year and he will be the face of the program and not Gorgeous Georges.

I agree that is the most logical thing for Monte to do. But If they win the National Champ or get to the Final 4 you would want to go out on top. Next year is an unknown you could get hurt, you probably aren't going to be getting the national attention you previously were, and the biggest one is everyone you have ever talked to is whispering in your ear the money that you could make right now.

Thought maybe if all the starters and all but 3 (NOT 4) of the whole team have fouled out and ISU is leading by 2 with 3.8 seconds left in the Championship game - and KU is taking the ball out under our basket. Maybe Prohm would consider it. But probably just put Fred in for the last defensive effort in that case.

To get a medical redshirt you have to play less than 30 percent of games. We have played 34 games toal at the moment and Naz has played in 8 games so 24%. If he starts playing in the Elite 8

(35) Sweet 16: Doesn't play
(36)(9) Elite 8: 25%
(37)(10) Final 4: 27%
(38)(11) Finals: 29%

So he would still be under the 30 percent total. But since we are Iowa State he wouldn't get his medical redshirt.

He would have played in 2016. Redshirt gone, and not because we're Iowa State, but because this is cut and dried.

This isn't retirement. As a marginal draft pick, you generally don't get to choose if you go out on top. You don't really get to choose your own destiny, unless you're a sure-fire pick. There's no guarantee you'll be drafted. And Monte is not a sure-fire pick right now.
