Must see places in Ames?

Agree with this. It is a nice small state park, a random pretty valley surrounded by otherwise flat farmland, and nice views of Des Moines River too.

FYI I believe the campground is closed for all of 2018 for upgrades and the main road may be pedestrian only for first part of summer. Still a nice spot as he said, if you are already in Ames.
Could do steam train ride in Boone too right by there for some great scenery.

Drive through Burger King. See the window an employee crawled out of while being robbed by Sam Mack & Levin White.IMG_20180619_3176.jpg

I believe the Cooley family is visiting this weekend. Hope the weather is great and they have a good time.

We will be visiting this weekend. Looking forward to it. One obstacle that might be tough to overcome is the Pitt coaching staff has been courting my son hard and just made him an incredible offer.. but he is coming to Ames with an open mind..so we shall see.

That’s great news for you and your son! Hope you enjoy your visit to Ames, regardless.

Great to have choices. The staff at Iowa State has been very active in getting this program back to the top. I hope Austin is part of that.

The amount of work Dresser & staff is doing to get RTC going is impressive

Absolutely.. both ISU and Pitt are very similar in that regard.. new coaching staffs within the last year, brought in to change the culture, attitude and direction of the wrestling teams. That's part of the draw for sure; being part of the rebuilding process.

The George Washington Carver statue used to be near the benches between Beardshear and Carver Hall, I believe. I'm not sure if it still is.

There is a George Washington Carver statue in front of the Seed Science Center. Located at the corner of Wallace and Osborn. You can see if from Osborn Drive or park in the visitor spots and walk up to it. The parking lot is prior to the bus-only gate.
