If you are looking for quieter environment, rent in an apartment building/complex that doesn't rent to undergrads.

Black market pizza for the win! They have goat cheese as a topping option.

Advice: Don't move there. I love Iowa State, but Ames is a pretty boring town other than the basketball and football games.

Depends where you're at in life though. It's not like Ames is a bad drive to Des Moines if you're only going out to do stuff on the weekends.

Plenty of stuff to do in Ames. It depends on what you like to do and how hard you look to entertain yourselves. If you're a boring person, you won't find anything here. If you're not boring, you will find more than enough to keep you busy. Most important thing is to meet people, which prevents you from having excuses to not go out and do things.

Avoid Great Plains pizza at all costs. Go to Wallaby's for a Cyclone sports bar. If you do an apartment check out who lives there. As a professional you probably don't want to live in one that is filled with college students. If you don't have kids you may want to as realtors about apartments for young married professionals versus family units.
