Can anyone confirm or deny if he is related to Jack Hofher?

Good question, sounds like an excellent hire though. He'll be a good mentor for our first year play caller. Hofher's been round the block a few times.
I like this. Even if it's not all good experience, this guy has more years of experience than the rest of the offensive staff combined! :yes:

There's a few things that came to my mind.
1. That would be hard to make a push from FCS to FBS. It's hard enough for Iowa state to play in the FBS level but making that move would be even harder. Feel for the man.
2. There is more to the story than what is told. We do not know what happens in the meetings or football team. So there could be a story behind this.
3. Some coaches are meant to be just assistants. A lot of people are not meant to be head coaches but we've all seen someone try to go in and make something out of it. But it just doesn't work sometimes. And this is America, where you can do whatever you want to do.
So so at the end of the day I would call this a learning experience from this man.
I don't think Coach Campbell wants a team of former head coaches . . . or assistant coaches with nice resumes.
His priority seems to be on putting together a one-minded staff . . . and seems to be doing it.
I would love to be able to analyze Coach Campbell's leadership style. If he can lead the players the way he seems to lead the coaches, we are definitely heading in the right direction.

Just saw on the Cyclone FB Twitter page that Bueker will remain as Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach...good for him. Hard working Iowa guy who knows the players well.

Former USC kicker Joe Houston has joined the staff as associate for Quality Control... whatever that is.
Always wondered the same. Can anyone share exactly what a football QC does?
When recruits come in, insures no prostitutes, plans no drinking, acquaints them with Hickup Park, provides hi qual water, executes limo airport ride bypassing Huxley.
I don't know for sure at Iowa State but I read somewhere that the QC analyze our and other teams trends. Like out of this type formation the team is likely to run this play, or are more likely to pass or run in certain situations. Lots of computer work.
It helps in establishing trends for other teams that can translate to players having a pretty good idea what teams will do in certain situations, or out of certain formations, or with certain player groupings.
It also ensures that our team isn't predictable. It might be why in certain situations you wonder how a player got so open. It might be because a team always runs a certain type of play out of a formation and then they identify that they've developed a trend and they come out in that formation and run something completely different and catch the opposition off guard.
