I am not questioning Cooke's play...it has been great. I guess don't see Cooke's level of play meaning minutes should be substituted for any one single player (i.e. Thomas). If anything Cooke's increased playing time should mean less time for both Thomas and Mitrou-Long combined, and perhaps Morris when he needs a rest (when needing another ball-handler/play-maker in addition to Niang et. al).
To answer your question, "if he misses a game how much does it decrease our chance of winning that game or affecting the outcome?" None to little, it probably neither increases or decreases. Cooke does have higher win-shares/40 possessions than Thomas, but probably just as interesting Thomas has higher WS/40 than Mitrou-Long (barely). From a purely skills and statistics standpoint (not intangibles) I see Mitrou-Long and Cooke more interchangeable than I see Thomas and Cooke.
Offensively and defensively I am really curious how Burton performs. Capital City League is not the greatest indicator of future success. Additionally, I will be watching and following with great interest in how Prohm works Burton into the rotation.
What I think is most important is really developing 7-8 guys in the rotation. Depth is overrated, but offensively if you have a total of 7-8 to guys who are skilled and shoot you can weather a game when one player is not having a good game (Like UAB, when Thomas and McKay had great games and others not so much). Building in redundancy and resilience in any system is ideal.
It is quite enjoyable you can debate and discuss an undefeated and high-level team.

Hah, no. Stats are not the gospel Only helpful for being objective. It is also only 7 games into the season- so much is still going to change. Naz has many intangibles.
Earthisman, yes that is why I used the jimlad. I love what Naz brings in stability, and he is an essential part of the runs we make. I like his quickness on the break and hope his health holds up during the year. I heard Bobby Hanson on KXNO basically saying the Naz match-up was a wash with no clear advantage in quickness, but I believe history last year, and hopefully repeated again this year, will bear out a different tale.

While he does have a flatter shot, he rarely misses in warms ups so I would not place the blame there...up until 2 games ago, he was hitting at that 40% clip we as fans have kind of expected out of him, but last 2 games he has struggled and he doesn't seem to get the amount of looks per minutes as Naz or some of the others do to get in a great rhythm..I think his overall game has been great this year and I think the shooting will end up his best season so far...
Hallice has that beautiful arc on his shot and appears to be the most pure 3 or shooter on the team so far. I will say Kansas' 3 or shooting has been off the chart this year. Seldon is shooting well over 50% from deep, and Greene came back last night and I think he is is 8-9 from there so far...hope those guys go back to their inconsistent selfs come B12 play...
I think it would be great if we could keep Monte around 35 minutes a game or under, as the season will be a bit of a grind at 37-39 minutes per. Hallice could certainly help with that if he continues to improve.
So fans can rip MT for not shooting the 3-ball well (35%), but we can't knock Naz for shooting 33% from long range?These non-con games are supposed to be stat stuffers. I don't see either of these two percentages improving much come conference play.

Ridiculous statement considering Naz is still recovering from surgery which is likely the reason his shooting has been off. Plus, too few games have been played to draw any conclusions at this point.
Classic idiocy! basically saying, I don't care what the FACTS are, I FEEL this way. Hope you don't make most decisions with that thinking.
Reminds me of MM freshman year in this way -- minutes increased because he was too good to keep off the floor. Not saying he'll be as good as MM as fast or anything. Hallice is being given the chance to prove himself. If he continues to be an asset as competition increases, and particularly if he proves he isn't a liability in clutch situations -- the minutes will follow.
I don't think that is why. He has had 2 games ( exhibition and Chciago State) where he was 6-7 ( or close to that).. He would be the first to tell you he just needs to keep shooting and get his rhythm back...
Naz has been very frustrating to watch. He needs to get the Hoiberg treatment that Thomas got. If you're hot, go for it. If you're not, take a seat. He makes so many dumb mistakes trying to look cool. But obviously we know he can go off at any moment and is a leader on the team. I'm cheering for him, but damn, just make the simple play. It's why Morris is so good. There is no reason Naz should be handling the point when Monte is out. Put Niang at the point or some combo of Cooke and Thomas.
