This is so much fake fake fake news, its a Facebook hoax, that is being spread by idiots that dont look up anything. Look it up, there has never been one confirmed case of this actually happening, only an urban legend of people spreading this BS hoax.
There has never been a single screen shot, a single confirmed transmission of this so called MOMO trying to challenge someone. ONLY people spreading this fake hoax, bs.
Does anyone ever look anything up before they spread this ****.

Cool story bro. Normally I catch this kind of stuff and filter that out. But good for you, you're a genius and keep up the good work, as nothing gets by you geronimo.

Shaking my head... This is not real. Parents will eat up anything.

Which means too many people have too much time on their hands to be making this sorta s*** up. That pretty much sums up the fact that they are sadistic. But, those facebook posts with stories of their children acting out random stuff seemed convincing to me, but what about the actual references to youtube kids where tidbits of sadistic stuff embedded into those shows for kids to see? Seems like others are pointing out the realism there.

In the last month or two my eyes have been opened a bit to You Tube. Like many we'd let our kids have somewhat free reign on there. Usually I'd see them just watching dumb videos. Recently our daughter started using some other apps that seemed innocent enough. Upon hearing and reading more and more about what's out there we started monitoring it a little more and were not thrilled with some of the content. We've started to really limit their time and what content they can access.

I was just talking to a friend about this the other day. Electronic usage with kids is largely a byproduct of a society where we have to kids our kids closer. The days of letting kids go out and create their own fun are largely gone. I'm in my early 30s and I can remember as a kid hoping on my bike and spending my day all over town, checking in maybe occasionally with my parents. Parks, trails, friends houses, we'd just basically spend our day moving around. That's pretty much unthinkable these days.

Parents now are no different than parents then-- they need some quiet time to get things done. That's when parents used to be able to send the kids out in the neighborhood to play, but not as much anymore. Now you give them an electronic when you need that time.

Plus it will never warm up enough to allow them outside...

Just like all those people that will share their money if they win the lottery as long as you share their post?

With the list of things that moron kids do to "challenge" each other today anything sounds possible. (banana Sprite, cinnamon, condom, gallon, salt and ice, Tide pod) Yeah parents are the idiots

Last year 456 people were hospitalized for ingestion laundry detergent regardless of reason. That includes elderly people and teenagers.

There are 325,000,000 people in the US.

One person does something stupid and then the moms groups talk about how dumb kids are. And that spreads far more than whatever the kid did.

Remove the cob from your ass and try that again. Whether or not this Momo **** pops up during the random annoying videos kids watch on youtube, this is a good reminder for parents to monitor what their kids are doing online. I was definitely nervous about this ****** up **** popping up on my 5 and 3 year old girls because it's something that seems possible and sadly believable. I did look it up and while what you said about it being unproven is true, law enforcement from several different countries have issued warnings. Maybe it's all a bunch of bs but nothing wrong with parents being reminded that the internet is a ****** up place that kids shouldn't just be let loose in.

The fact of the matter is people are too gullible and run with this ****, and share it into oblivion. That is the problem with all of these hoaxes if people would just let them die it would not be that big of a deal but people believe everything they see on FB and blindly share everything, thus continuing the cycle of the story, and expanding the legend. If you just think about how this entire thing is actually supposed to work and what is supposed to happen you can start to see holes in the story, but people run to their kids and show them this freaky creation, made a few years ago by a graphic artist from a picture and scare the **** out of them.
It was the same thing with the slender man and all the other so called scary stories. You are right there are stupid teens out there doing dumb challenges like the Tide pod challenge but the FB craze made that become much bigger than it was. And thinking someone is randoming going to hack into your childs youtube viewing and tell them to do things is a bit out there. But to each their own, show that thing to your kids, scare the **** out of them, create more panic, then have your kids start actually searching for MOMO to see what its all about, that is when **** actually does happen.
Remove the cob, ok, fine but maybe you should wake up and pull the stick out of yours, either that or stop being so damn gullible and scared of everything that is a made up campfire story.

I'm not scared of Momo but yeah it worries me what could happen because of it. Those 2 Wisconsin girls trying to kill their friend because of the Slender Man comes to mind. Blame parents for sharing stuff on the internet all you want but I don't buy that being the real problem. Kids will hear about this stuff or stumble on it one way or another and some can't handle it. I won't share it with my kids because I don't want to scare the **** out of them for no reason. I might have a more vague talk about bad videos and what to do if they see them. Could be overreacting but I'm fine with somebody thinking I have a stick up my ass when it comes to the well being of my kids. Just out of curiosity, do you have kids?

Yep 3 of them, and do you even know the story of the slender man, and the 2 girls in Wisconsin.
I've had to defuse this **** with my oldest daughter constantly, yes she was terrified when everyone was telling her about the slenderman, which was a hoax, it was a scary story on a forum that people added to randomly, like a campfire story. Those girls used it as an excuse, they claimed it was a real person, that someone online was telling them to do things, like the hoax was told. When in reality it was a hoax made up about the story that was being told on a website for horror stories.
Now today my daughter tells me she is worried about momo, and that someone is going to Hack into my other 2 kids youtube videos and tell them to kill themselves. IT is all Fake. And I had to defuse it because people are sharing something that is fake and making a story a fake made up hoax into something real.
Do I worry my kids will see something on their kindles or on one of our other devices playing Youtube videos, or watching Nick online. NOPE. Literally if something comes on that my kids don't like they scroll to the next one in 2 seconds. Do I think some rando is going to magically going to hack into their Kindles and tell them to kill themselves, Yeah not really.
I guess every time I see this BS on FB I realize it is just that BS, but it Pisses me off when I see dozens of people sharing the same **** then my daughter starts worrying about it because people are to stupid to realize its fake or do a little research and realize someone took a picture made by a graphic artist and made up a story to go along with it and spread it to a few people on FB and Boom you have mass panic. Going through life scare of the boogie man is not something I choose to do and trying to shelter my kids from an imaginary threat is something I don't plan on doing either. That is why I actually take 2 minutes to look into these so called threats.
Not every post on FB, not every meme, and not every story you read on the internet is real, not all of them are truthful and most of the time they aren't especially if politics are involved. If you think they are, I have some used siding for a spaceship I will sell you.

Yes I realize the Slenderman was a hoax but stuff like that can get out of hand when young minds, like the Wisconsin girls, are exposed to it. It is my opinion that parents are better off knowing and talking to their kids about these kinds of things. The more parents that know the better. I'm well aware that not everything I read on the internet is real but I have a feeling you'll just keep beating that drum.

Honestly, I'm kind of disappointed. Just once I want one of these parental freakout hoaxes to be true:
Knockout Game
Momo
Dungeons & Dragons Santanism
and perhaps most of all, the jelly bracelet sex club.

Why couldn't that one have been real?

I just think that the world is a more magical place when vicious packs of wild dogs are roaming around the countryside and trouble youths are assaulting old people in complex gang initiation rituals.
Living in fear is so much more exciting than reality, dammit!
At least the Smiley Face Killers are still around to be terrified of. That's comforting.

I just received a letter from our school district about the Momo challenge resurfacing. They warn about it being an elaborate hoax, but I'll get the joy of diffusing this stupidity tonight as I'm sure it has already spread like wildfire in my daughter's class.

Slightly amusing is that one of my daughter's friends goes by Momo and the district said they have added the word "momo" to their deny list on searches.
