If he’s providing a service he should be hired. Lying about how he was providing that service is a different story but doesn’t mean the school/team knew.

I 100% don’t think Harbaugh would cheat on the field. Football is sacred to the guy. This isn’t dabo or saban we’re talking about here.
Ha. Harbaugh has been a slimeball even since his days at Univ of San Diego. He'll do what benefits himself.

Harbaugh has already consulted with Self as to the proper procedure to extend any NCAA investigation, place the infractions on insignificant subordinates when the time comes and eventually receive a slap on the wrist from ESPN/TV interests who will tell NCAA how to handle the penalty.

Just going to predict that there will be zero punishment for this for UM. Either that, or meaningless punishment doled out in 2027.

I mean, its not like they had fake classes for athletes or had addidas paying guys to go there. Those kind of things would surely be severely punished.

I’m an alum of both, I went to MSU for undergrad so it has my primary allegiance and it’s who I would root for when they play against each other. But when they aren’t playing each other I also cheer for and follow Michigan.
Still doesn't change Harbaugh is a POS. You're just clouded since you are a "fan" I guess?

So it sounds like pretty much everyone knew that Michigan was stealing signs. If everyone knew why would you continue to use signs. Give everyone one a wristband with a list of plays and signal in a number.

And anyone who doesn’t think that Harbaugh wouldn’t cheat on the field is fooling themselves. He was on the hot seat 2-3 years ago. He’s going to do whatever it takes to keep that job.

Also, I highly doubt that this is only happening at Michigan. They may have taken it to an extreme, but other schools are probably doing the very similar things.

This whole thing isn’t about restoring competitive balance and stopping UM from stealing signs. Coaches want stealing signs involved because they’d rather be able to steal others rather than not have theirs stolen. If that wasn’t the case they’d have helmet comms. This isn’t about restoring competitive balance. It’s about hurting UM beyond that. It’s pretty clear by how I do is coming out that there is a PR piece to this. That’s all fine because they did what they did, but are we going to enter into a world where college programs are hiring PI firms to look into other schools? College sports are a filthy business and I’m not sure 10% of programs come out completely clean.

Though I will say as an entertainment product that could make for some good entertainment.

I'm sure that the conversation went like this...

Michigan: Hey, CMU, can you let us have a coa...ahhhh, person on your sideline for the MSU game?
CMU: Ehhhhh, no, errrrrrr, why?
Michigan: The guy simply likes to watch football on the sidelines.
CMU: He can just sit in the stands like everyone else.
Michigan: How about we throw in a $100,000 donation?
CMU: Okay! We can give your coa...errrrr fan a free shirt, sunglasses, and hat too!

Have to say, since this came out its changed how i watch games a bit.

There were a couple plays at Baylor, i wondered "did our guys know that play was coming?" Eg the one WR screen where our guy was tackling the receiver, 2 yards behind LOS, almost before the ball was there.

Yeah, I going to doubt for now that a staff signed off on someone being on the sideline for another game. There's been rumors he was on that sideline for awhile now so it's finally out and that's going to be the biggest rule violation. It's kind of grey as far as the other stuff as far as how the rules explicitly read but this one is a definite violation. Still, punishment will come down to if the NCAA can prove higher up levels knew and if the higher levels (Harbaugh) can prove they were fostering an environment of compliance which I don't have a lot of hope for considering Harbaugh really doesn't seem like the documenting and checking boxes in regard to administrative tasks type of guy. Nothing will happen this year, but I highly doubt Harbaugh will be coaching college football next year so long as someone in the NFL will hire him.

And no, I don't buy that the NFL will carry over any disciplinary measures.

I want Michigan to beat the crap out of THE Ohio State University, then stomp on the SEC to win the National Title.

Only to have to vacate it after the fact, and humiliate the NCAA once again.

No one cares about vacated championships. They won, they celebrated, and they made the donors happy. The only ones that are harmed are the kids that have to return their rings.

And is that even the biggest deal? Did Reggie Bush not win the Heisman? It just doesn’t change anything.
