So, you just totally contradicted yourself. Metcalf wore him down. That's what good wrestlers do (see Varner).
This. No one is saying Mueller is better than Metcalf, but to say that he didn't try is not a fair statement.

Brands congratulated Brent after match, and Brent responded with the jerking off motion back to him, with the "I sucked, don't congratulate me" intentions, as he only beat mueller 7-3, and that's probably why Brands didn't shake hands with him as Metcalf was mad at his performance. The problem, was that he was still in the middle of the mat, and everyone saw it. He was wrong, but he wasn't disrespecting Mueller or ISU.

Anyone catch Iowa's Metcalf's actions when he walked off mat after final meet yesterday. He was grinning and making a jerking off motion. What a DB. Of course soon after that Gable had to criticize Varner for being cocky as he was "clapping" towrds the Iowa bench after his victory.
You guys need to give Iowa some credit for being consistent. They have no class whether they win or lose.
You guys would love Metcalf if he was a cyclone, just as Iowa fans would love to have Varner.
No. Plenty of people were ****** at Leonard Johnson last year (08) when he accumulated a couple of stupid personal fouls.
Not a good analogy. LJs stuff was detrimental to the team when he did it. This is an argument on sportsmanship that is going unpunished. Yes, Varner does some unsportsmanlike stuff, but he doesn't do things that are as offensive as Metcalf. Besides that, our coaches don't act like the Iowa coaches do. That's the problem. The coaches set the example.
The guy I quited was basically saying that we would love to have Metcalf because he is good. That we would look beyond his sportsmanship if he delivered wins. I'm saying we wouldn't.
Another example: Plenty of people didn't care for Curtis Stinson's sometimes antics on the basketball court even though he was an extreme talent.
On the other hand, Iowa wrestling fans (at least the ones that post here) defend Metcalf's actions.
Iowa's staff is just more bat-**** crazy than ISU's, take it for what it's worth I guess......
Honestly I'll take "bat-**** crazy" if that passion keeps winning. While I agree that winning with class is great, I think that a lot of this stuff is getting blown out of proportion after an emotional loss where there were a lot of swing matches decided by a point or 2. I can't say I wouldn't be doing the same had the Hawks lost........
Varner's been pulling similar antics this year as well, so it's not like it doesn't go both ways.
You guys would love Metcalf if he was a cyclone, just as Iowa fans would love to have Varner.
....... and that is one of the big differences between ISU and UI fans. The majority of UI fans that post on this site didn't care about all the arrests with the football team and they don't care that there wrestling coach is a bafoon. It's so ingrained in the psyche of the hawks on this site that they can't believe that any other fan base would put honor and integrity before victory (see the multiple references to ISU fans would sing a different song if brands coached our team).
heck you are doing and you won...Honestly I'll take "bat-**** crazy" if that passion keeps winning. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Long get into a bit of trouble over the summer? Something to the tune of underage drinking, getting in a fight with a cop, possession of a fake ID. I realize UI's football has had a number of transgressions, but Long got little to no punishment for that.
