Menards rumor

I was told that from someone who got the information from a "reliable source" that Menards is close to moving into the old K-Mart. I told that person that I've don't believe it because there has been no rumors of it. I'm appealing to my sources here, has anyone heard anything?

I believe it but only if they are rebuilding. They are building like crazy down here in KC and the stores are huge. Bigger than any I have ever seen.

Might help to know what K-Mart you are referring to... I don't think I've ever seen them remodel an existing building but they could easily tear it down and build what they want.

It's a perfect spot for them, but they would have to get Staples out and demolish both buildings.

I've heard about Menards coming to Ames for 10 years.

They don't do small stores anymore so it'd have to be demolished, Marshalltown was one of two small stores left before they built new store. They are finishing up a huge distribution center in Marshalltown as well out by the soccer complex.

I've heard the same rumor and also that Bed, Bath, and Beyond is going between Walmart and Target. Menards has been looking to come to Ames since 2007 though, we will see when it finally happens.

I think Menards and Ames would be better off if they built out on Dayton between Theisens and the salvage lot.
