I would be stunned if McDermott/his agent didn't somehow parlay this into more money out of Creighton.
Hope they'll go for Huggins. I could live without 'press Virgina' in the conference.

I can't see Huggins even considering the tOSU job.
I can't see Huggins going there. He was born, went to college, and coaches in Morgantown. He also turns 64 this year.
Geesh. He get an opportunity to leave Omaha and he stays? May be the first person in history to do such a thing.
This just goes to show how hard it is to hire a good head coach in June. We got so lucky with Prohm.
I've only been by it, but is Columbus, Ohio much better? Serious question.

Well, Ohio State can forget trying to lure someone like Chris Mack after that swing-and-miss. They'll have to go internally or go with a mid-/low-major sleeper at this point.
Agree. If tOSU comes calling in March or April then maybe McDermott makes the jump. But by now the 2017 recruiting is mostly over and he'd have little time to assemble a staff. And if he stumbled in year one he'd probably never recover.
Prohm and ISU was a little different because he was inheriting a team that was bringing back plenty of talent. Whoever takes the Ohio State job is looking at a full rebuild.

I still think hiring from within makes the most sense. Give the lead assistant a chance and if he flames out then make a run at a big name next spring.
My gut says this is what they'll do, considering the timing. Might've been smarter to just go that route immediately for transitional purposes. We'll see.
Yea, tOSU really crapped the bed there. You don't ditch Matta unless you know the next guy is saying yes. And you don't let it get public unless you know the guy is saying yes. Getting punked by GMac will be tough to recover from. Need to really back up the truck now, or just give it away to an assistant.
