Let's throw some hypothetical's out there...

So if Mcdermott ends up at OSU, does Jacobson end up at Creighton? Who would UNI target? Seriously, with the Valley essentially becoming a 1 bid league how can Ben not make the jump to the next level?

That's funny because that is the first name I thought of that Creighton would look at. And maybe one of the best fits for Jacobson.

This is all on Gene Smith. Forbes magazine just ranked Ohio State the seventh most valuable college basketball program in the country - based on revenue - and coaches are turning him down, and now the job is offered to McDermott?

Then UNI's assistant coach with the point guard son would be out of a job too meaning his kid would decide to go to ISU. This could work out.

So McDermott is turning down the Ohio St offer, and Fred was never interested in going.

So what did we learn here????

He has changed how he coaches since leaving ISU. One thing a good coach does is adapt when he fails. He did that and I think he is ready for the job. Also a lot easier to get talent at OSU
I agree. Look at Alford. He left Iowa with a losing conference record in 8 seasons. They ran him out of town based on that record, but also that he was an ******* personally. He got some good experience from there at a mid-level school (New Mexico-much like McD at Creighton). From there, he shocked the world getting the UCLA job. UCLA allows him to recruit at a high level. That, combined with some growth as a coach and maturity as a guy, has allowed him to have a pretty nice run so far at UCLA.

Oh man good call! I hadn't even thought about that angle.

Actually, I think it would possibly hurt. Green's dad could certainly be hired to go with Jacobsen, thus AJ could play in a more high profile conference than UNI and a more than 1-bid league. (i.e. ..I'm not comparing Creighton to ISU at all, rather Creighton now to UNI.)
