McD will get another year after tonight's effort.

Oh seriously, dont open the thread then. It was a great win. Glad I got to see OT on thetube. However, the coach question is valid given the circumstances and if people want to discuss it, let them.

I for one hope he was comming back anyway. I would hate to think one win could make a difference. One GREAT win though!

I'm not lying I was, because the refs were willing k-state back into the game, i seriously think the players were playing for his job, i mean, why didnt we see this effort against A&M, Baylor, OSU, OU ?
 
How pathetic is it that people are actually not happy about this win. When they look at themselves in the mirror do they see a cyclone fan looking back at them. This was a great win by the players and coaches. The guys really gutted it out and showed a lot of heart. I am so proud of them and the coaches. Great win!!!

Theres a big difference between being happy about the win, and thinking that mcdermott's been successful this season. 2 separate things. There were plenty of people when we started losing saying 'lets see how the whole season plays out and not judge him on one game'... i believe that would apply to this game as well.

9th is not a comeback. I'm just pointing out that if you're going to rag on McDermott, at least be fair about it. Is that too hard to understand?

Exactly where in this thread is the post about anyone thinking McDermott was successful this season? Or how it's relevant to being happy for a win?
 
I don't think 1 game is enough to make up for some horrible other ones, just like I don't think 1 very embarassing loss would discount several wins.
Let's face it, 95% of us even with 3.2 seconds left figured we would find a way to lose that game.
 
Can this thread be merged with the post thread. I think the OP had a good point but to me it looks like a shameless way to get credits from all the other posters. We have too many threads opened up just to get people going. All in all, great win for the team and GMAC. I am not sold on him but I am an IOWA STATE FAN and will root for them no matter up or down. They are my team, not GMAC, and as the song says, FOREVER LOYAL TRUE.

This. I'm ******* ecstatic about the W!! But in no way should this save his job. One game is not enough to save it.

I mean, dont get me wrong, this was a great win....but he is 1-21 against ranked opponents, this seems to be his first win against a team not named Nebraska nor Colorado....1 win just can't seem to justify 4 years of sub mediocrity.....
 
I am happy for the players, program, and coach. He was coming back regardless. I would encourage JP to demand GMac to replace a couple assistants. One assistant will run the offense including half time adjustments, offense, and inbounds plays. I am not joking either. The second would be in charge of off season conditioning. Call them assistant head coaches I don't care but GMac needs help in these areas.

the freaking topic title? 'mcdermott will get another year for tonight'

I'm happy about tonight's win, but some mcdermott lovers cant resist the chance to try to throw it in the faces of those who think he's failed here, instead of just enjoying the win themselves.

no, if he was definately coming back, he should have announced he was 100% behind him - pretty much the opposite of what he did for McCarney.
 
You get credits for starting new threads? that explains it, I get my credits from betting, 5 mill on the cover and 2 mill on the under - net 3 mill and a win! thats a good night!

I don't think you understand the difference between effort and execution...effort has certainly been there all season long but the execution in close games hasn't been. Why can't you just be happy for these guys? I'm glad it finally came together today.
