Lets hear some motivational thoughts from you............

I'm suggesting Hoosiers, imagining our Cyclones as the modern day Hickory High, overcoming all obstacles as Matt Thomas plays the part of deadeye Jimmy Chitwood and leads us to the promised land.

For the NCAA final, I'm imagining Georges taking the court ala Willis Read before Game 7 of the 1970 NBA finals, winning the opening jump and inspiring the Cyclones to victory.

1. Hoiberg teams always have always taken it to the next level late in the season. This year after we completed the historic 14-0 run, the play fell off for a few games. I was a little worried that we had peaked. Not anymore, this team has played their last 5 games at an incredibly high level.

2. If we knock UNC out, the state of North Carolina will wake up with 0 out of 4 teams left in the tournament... ouch.
Think how the state of New Mexico must be feeling for the last two years. I'm sure that fed up sports writer in NM is glad he quit last year.

3. We'll be fine on Sunday, looking forward to it. It is still an awesome team. Everybody has confidence in themselves and the team.

4. PG play and coaching is super important in tournament games. We've got both. Deandre is fire, with his emotion, energy, and athleticism. Monte is ice, can't be rattled, cool hand.

5. I've been following our team for 11 years and I can't remember a Cyclone team with as much leadership as this team.

Everything else from here on out is gravy. We have had a great season, let's just have some tastiness on top of it.

If this was our only chance, I would feel much different. This doesn't feel like it felt in 2000-2001 where we missed our window. This is only the beginning. If we get Lee, we will be a national title contender next year (with a VERY hungry Georges Niang).

I have full confidence in Ejim and Kane. Morris and Long can slow down Paige. We have faced better guards in big12. My sleeper step up is Percy. He is built like a tank. He can give us solid defense and rebounds with UNC bigs. On the season as a whole the Tar Heels are not a good shooting team. Gibson, Ejim, and Hogue control the glass we win.

Hope you're right about Percy, he's got a little offense. But I think we'll see more Edozie because he's much quicker on defense and on the boards, which we will badly need against NC's bigs.

I want a complete Canadian domination! Long needs about 10 threes and Ejim need to carve up the lane something fierce!

Take it to them!

Absolutely, and if we get him to replace Mel our front line depth could even be a strength next year. On another positive note we can be thankful we didn't have any season ending injuries to any starters earlier this year that may have prevented us from even getting to the tournament.

Our front line is going to be a strength next year even without Lee. But completely dominant with Lee.

There have been a few games where, for whatever reason, Georges didn't quite have it going, or had foul trouble. We still managed to pull it out with other guys stepping to the plate.

One of the big reasons people were predicting a deep run was because we had all kinds of options to go to if one was off. Well, one is off.

These non-big three observations help-

* Daniel's minutes and production in the BigXII tourney
* Naz's getting groove back
* Matt's two mid-range jumpers hit in big games in Big XII tourney probably a confidence builder. Have feeling he will show up, in some form or fashion (hitting shots, rebounds).
* Monte asserting himself more/deferring less (who knows what new we will see next with the Paige match-up)
* Dustin's all-around play/intensity/chip

Yep. we are also as a team playing better than a month ago.

Yep. we are also as a team playing better than a month ago.

We can play better D with Percy and Edozie having 10 fouls to give. George sometimes played soft to stay out of foul trouble. Let's get physical!

We still have a favorable draw. A different bracket and I'd be much less optimistic.

Our next two games ARE winnable without Georges. That gives us two games to get roles switched around and get people comfortable. Then it's time to discharge Sparty!

2 all big 12 seniors and a stud freshman pg who looks better every game. Hogue playing his best ball. Win one for the old man gamer.

*I didn't think there was a huge drop off after Niang left last night. He's important, but this isn't the magnitude or impact that say, Royce White's absence would've left in '11-12. Ironically Niang's foul trouble has let the team play well without him for lots of minutes, several times.

*North Carolina has to figure out how they're going to prepare for a team that has unknowns. That can be tricky. There's also FH, and if anyone's going to expand someone's strengths, it's him.

*ISU's defense needs to pick up anyway compared to last night (was better in 2nd half), and if they can slow down NC, they can stick around and give themselves a chance late. The first two days, including UNC's game, showed that anything can happen.

*I've questioned this team's effort at times throughout the year, but these last 4 games have convinced me that if nothing else, they're at a point where they're going to come out swinging and let the cards fall where they may. That won't change tomorrow.

When we win, it only improves the chances for Hoiberg to win Coach of the Year.

Our front line is going to be a strength next year even without Lee. But completely dominant with Lee.

True, Edozie will be better (not sure about Gibson) and if you consider Nader a front liner, our depth should be fine. If we get Lee I think it makes Nader even more of a perimeter player for us, maybe even a lot of 2.

Somebody is going to step up... And it's going to provide a lot of insight for how we're going to defend our National Championship next year... (this is the positive thread, so I'm going to go ahead and ramp it all the way up) We talk a lot about the Big Three (Ejim, Kane, Niang), but I think the motor on the team lies with three other guys, MM, 3sus, & Hogue... Now would be the time for Thomas to make shots (they don't have to be threes, I like what I've seen with him in the paint lately), and for Edozie to step up/break out. As for the guy under the basket, Hogue has been the most consistent directly below the rim since the Big 12 Tourney... It's up to MM, Kane, & Ejim to get the assists to Hogue to make up for Niang's crafty points in the paint. Rally around the adversity we're seeing and make this a truly special run. I want to see Niang crying with tears of happiness this year...

Ok so I've been pretty down on things after hearing about the loss of Georges. Big blow yes, but then I checked my bracket and so far have every pick correct in my east bracket with isu going to the final four. That has to mean something right!? This team will rally. We face adversity all the time head on. Very talented team. Edozie must and will know that it's his time to shine! In my mind he is the sole person that needs to step up for Georges. If he can avg 8 or 9 pts the rest of the way this team will be fine. They are shooting lights out right now.
