Matt Campbell to Penn State??

No one seems to recall he was a Division I starting scholarship End at Pitt, and decided to switch to a Division III non-scholarship private school...because he saw one of their voluntary practices.

It is infinitely more likely that Matt Campbell jumps ship to Iowa Wesleyan than Penn State. Every man has his price, and Campbell's price is culture.
I believe he was a walk-on, and probably didn’t play much if at all.

Also, like 75% of Pitt students are Penn State fans.

This article states that some of the important donors within Penn State want the interim guy (Terry Smith). If important donors want Smith to be it, that means a lot in this day and age. As an AD you do not piss off the donors in 2025.

I actually believe the next hire at Penn State is a "Bridge Quarterback" type hire. You are not the long term solution or franchise player, but you are the bandaid until they get a real rockstar.

The problem with Terry Smith, as I understand it, is there is a vocal minority of boosters that want him because he is a Paterno guy. This is an internal power struggle about how Joe Pa's legacy is treated at PSU. Some want to look past the Sandusky of it all, and call back to the guy that was their program for half a century.

The AD and many others are trying to move past the dark stain that Paterno left at the end of his reign.

This is insane to me.

On the plus side, if Campbell leaves then we won't misuse timeouts, won't sit on the ball going into half, and we won't lose games we should win, and we can go back to wearing our school colors for every game. Give me Kyle Kempt as the next head coach of Cyclone Football.

Out of all the times to make this post, now was the right time in your brain?

Updated the thread title. When I started it earlier I had no idea this would blow up. Figured everyone would hit the dumb button and tell me I’m a moron.

I mean you still can be, it’s not like it what ever out of the realm of possibilities that Penn state would reach out and a conversation happening.

Now for Campbell leaving, that’s a completely different story or possibility.

This is up there for one of the dumbest posts in this thread, and that’s saying something.
