Mateen Cleaves in deep doo doo?

This is why it is so under-reported. The only crime where the victim is assumed to be a liar.

I will admit I am always skeptical of assault reports because of what happened to Hooks and Nash at ISU (and also Bubu). This scenario for Cleaves seems like something is not right here, like a setup or something.

Since one in every six American women are victims of an attempted sexual assault, hopefully if it happens to someone you know, you won't assume she is lying.

I may be skeptical but I don't make assumptions.

No one else finds this fishy?

A guy, his wife and friend meet a celebrity at a golf tournament. Decide to go to the bar and hang out. Guy leaves to take his friend home but left his wife at the bar with the celebrity?

If I was reading the scenario I just typed without knowing a sexual assault is being accused my first thought would be the couple is swingers or have an open marriage.

Sexual assault of any kind if effing horrendous.

Lying about sexual assault is also horrendous and happens way more than it should. Women who lie about being assaulted to get money or attention make it that much harder for women who are actually assaulted to be taken seriously.

I don't assume this victim is lying, but there are a lot of questions that need to be answered. Cleaves is already guilty in the court of public opinion by even being accused of the crime. It will be interesting to see what happens in this case.

funny you say that, wasnt more than 2 years ago I sat in a courthouse testifying on the events of a night where a woman claimed a friend raped her. He hadn't and she in fact had raped me while I was passed out. Luckily her best friend videoed the incident and it was thrown out. They were not interested in pursuing the video evidence of her and my lifeless passed out body because you know, "you cant rape a man".

Needless to say the guy lost his job, got kicked out of school, disowned by parents and is still considered a rapist despite video evidence showing different. Thats why I say lets not assume he is guilty. Rape culture goes both ways.

First of all, I don't know what happened with Cleaves and this women so I'm not saying anyone is guilty or innocent, which everyone's stance at this time should be. That said, if a man, women, or whoever wrongfully accuses someone of rape, they should receive the same punishment as the person that they accused would have gotten if proven guilty. Just being accused of rape/sexual assault can ruin someone's life.

Which is exactly what i was saying. Thats the problem with all of this, men are considered guilty until proven innocent, when it should always always always be the other way around until it is proved. Listened to a news show on sirius the other day and some police dept. somewhere has a new way of investigating these reports. They bring the potential victim in, have her call the assaulting party and say why would you do that to me, i cant believe you would do that etc etc. Then they use what the guy says back to her as evidence, in many cases the guy is like sorry I was drunk etc. But in a surprisingly high number of cases, the guy is like wtf are you talking about? I just dropped you off an hour ago and couldn't get you to leave my house. They take that with other evidence to consider in the case. I just think its bs that a woman can say something happened and the guy is guilty instantly. Ive personally seen people lose jobs/kicked out of schools etc only to have the woman say , just kidding yolo 2 months later. With no repercussion. Even if it is 1 time out of 20, its still sickening to think it happens, just as sickening as rape itself imo.

So they make the woman do their job of investigating by giving the guy an easy, convenient way out?
That sounds like a load of crap and a well-deserved lawsuit waiting to happen.
