No MCU content until Aug 11th now??? This is bull crap. Who do they think they are thinking we are willing to wait that long? Skulls need crack over this.

I was looking back at what I said right prior to Loki's finale on the importance of this particular finale and I still find my comments to be very true. However, despite the tall task, somehow the show stuck the landing even for me. Props to the writers, as I truly believe, based on what they revealed, that if they didn't stick the landing well, it would have greatly impacted negatively a lot to follow. A lot hinged on that reveal.

With all that said and with how much I liked the finale, I'll admit I'm still not completely unconcerned moving forward. Lets call a spade a spade that the MCU is really starting to get out there with where it is going. We are getting into some pretty intense sci-fi stuff now, not counting the growing need to follow intently along with nearly everything to even keep up. That need will only grow the further we get into this thing, especially with how deep we are getting into the weeds. I get that it is very much following the comics for direction, but I've truly believed all along that a BIG reason why the MCU has been so successful has been its ability all along to draw in and keep BOTH the comic nerd fans and the general movie going audience. Those are two many times very different audiences. I have zero doubt everything the MCU is doing right now will keep all us nerds happy moving forward, but the further and further we get out there with stuff, the more you risk losing that general movie going audience. They are a very key cog needed to keep this big truck moving forward and ultimately the difference between a movie making $200,000 at the box office or $1,000,000 at the box office. Don't get me wrong, Feige has proven time and time again how much he is able to stretch that believability and verisimilitude threshold with all audiences to the max in the past without losing them. But make no mistake, it's a thin tight rope to constantly walk. Only time will tell if Feige can continue to do it, but if anyone can, it would be him.
You nailed my concerns. I know I will probably like whatever they do. My girlfriend has watched everything with me but is pretty casual about it all. While she loved the acting, Loki started to get a little confusing for her.

Seeing others replies in this thread and after talking about the Loki finale with friends, I feel like Marvel is starting to go in two separate directions with its MCU storylines. I think WandaVision and Loki cater to a crowd that’s into the cosmic side, whereas FatWS and Black Widow I think cater to the crowd that likes the street-level heroes better.

I think in the end those who are having a difficult time warming up to the idea of a multiverse story line will eventually come around. Think about when the first Iron Man came out in 2008… did anyone really think that three movies later we’d suddenly have aliens pouring out of rips in space-time?

Loved Loki, concerned about the implications of the time distortions and making sense of it all.

Couldn't agree more as a guy who is absolutely not into the cosmic Marvel stuff at all. If they get way too far out there in the time travel stuff and multiverses and everything it's going to get wayyyyy to 12 Monkeys I am afraid. And this is coming from a guy who loves time travel and multiverses and stuff - Netflix's "Dark"? I'm in. "Lost"? I'm in. But I think it's a tall order to get a casual moviegoer to buy in to this whole hog over the course of years.

Thanos, for as powerful as he was, was a tangible guy. He's just super strong and when augment with the stones was even stronger. But you could still punch him.

Kang is like a different villain altogether. You can't punch him. You need to outsmart him. It's a completely different battle this time.

On the other hand, the multiverse stuff might not matter if you haven't kept up because ****'s gone so crazy that most shows/movies might feel more like their own thing than the MCU films we've seen over the last 10 years (and especially since 2012).

According to Disney+, Black Widow takes place immediately after Captain America: Civil War and before Black Panther in the official timeline order.

The Disney+ series are listed in the following order after Avengers: Endgame:
Loki
WandaVision
Falcon and the Winter Soldier

I don't know where Spider-Man: Far From Home fits with the other Disney+ series

I feel like covering up the Olga Kurylenko casting was deliberate to have her appear later in the MCU. The reveal was surprising in the opening credits, but I immediately thought "well I didn't know she was in this, so she must play Taskmaster" and I'm sure there were others that had similar impressions. It also didn't help that by covering up that casting it made the plot a bit obvious that Dreykov's daughter survived the hit Black Widow orchestrated.

The way her character was rushed out of the movie was very similar to how Ghost was written out of Ant-Man and the Wasp and Agatha Harkness in WandaVision - all of these characters are still roaming the MCU and could make a reappearance later. Kevin Feige has come out and said that Kathryn Hahn's re-apparance as Agatha Harkness "can't come soon enough," so that's at least one villain/anti-hero that could potentially join Contessa's crew.

------

I feel like the Hawkeye Disney+ series is going to jump around quite a bit between present day and prior tothe events in Black Widow (maybe even before the first Avengers film). There was a lot still unknown about Budapest safehouse that Hawkeye can fill in the gaps, as whatever events transpired there seem to play a part of Contessa's plan. I don't know if ScarJo will make an appearance in the series, but I wouldn't be surprised if O-T Fagbenele reappears in a flashback or present day scene to help link back to the events in Black Widow. Yelena also seems likely to make an appearance.

Believe it or not, Spider-Man: Far From Home actually takes place in the timeline further along than anything we've seen so far, since it takes place about 8 months after Endgame. For comparison, Wandavision's events start only 3 weeks after Endgame, and Falcon and the Winter Soldier is a couple months after. It kind of weird to think that Far From Home is the most the most recent timeline-wise, but it is.

Yeah. I really liked the Netflix series because they were more grounded. The ever increasing threats to humanity in the movies with Endgame being the crescendo will make this next Phase feel completely different. I hope they don't get too far in the weeds with the multiple timelines, but it seems this is where they're headed.

I’m avoiding the hell out of this thread because I haven’t seen the last Loki episode. But I’m wondering about black widow. Considering taking my 6yo son to it. He’s seen almost all of the other MCU movies and Disney + content. Anything in it I should be aware of that would be touchy for little eyes? Try to not give spoilers. Just trying to get a feel for it but his fav movie is Ragnorak so I’m guessing this isn’t any more sketchy but I know BW background story is a tad dark.

The Loki finale definitely stuck the landing, but I think I'm in the minority where WandaVision is still my favorite of the 3 Disney+ series. I really dug the first 3 episodes of WV and I think it had the best balance of TV/Cinematic crossover. As the series went on the writing started losing steam but I think it was consistently better than the other series.

Loki is a palette cleanser for Marvel. The series was more focused on dialogue/character development, rather than large action set-pieces, which makes sense for a character like Loki. I thought the costuming, set design and casting were absolutely perfect; I felt like I was watching a Wes Anderson movie at times - and maybe that's what brought me out of the series. Loki was more similar to Game of Thrones than to an MCU entry, and maybe that's on me for not expecting that style. I still really enjoyed the series and will look forward to Season 2.

My Phase 4 rankings after the Loki finale:
1. Black Widow
2. WandaVision
3. Loki
4. Spider-Man: Far From Home
5. Falcon and the Winter Soldier

It's semantics but I think Far From Home is technically in Phase 3 even though it takes place after End Game. Black Widow is the only movie in Phase 4 right now.

I think my Phase 4 rankings would be:
1. Loki
2. Black Widow
3. WandaVision
4. FATWS

The darkest part of the movie is probably the opening credits after the intro, that depicts some of what happened to Natasha and the girls like her. Nothing graphic but definitely dark.

Otherwise its pretty standard MCU fare in terms of action\violence.

Far From Home is after WV and FATWS.
