It's SLOOOWWWWW now. I rewatched it a year a two ago, and honestly it took me several sittings to get through it.
Truthfully, its hard to fully tell, but I think it could be fairly important, less from a plot and story carryover, but much more from a character and setting carryover. The reason why I say this is because Black Panther is a relatively self-contained story for the most part, so not a lot to worry about there in general. However, Black Panther does add a lot of new characters that I'm already seeing pop up in the trailers who you will have no idea who they are if you don't see Black Panther. Black Panther also adds the entirely new nation of Wakanda to the mix in its movie, which is almost a character in and of itself, and which obviously is a big part of Infinity War beings how nearly 1/3 of the clips we see in the trailers seem to take place there. This fact is also probably why there is such a heavy dosing of new Black Panther characters in Infinity War. Therefore, my advice is to probably see it as I truly do think you will regret it if you don't.
I know Cameron is a **** and has not made a good movie since Terminator 2.
I do appreciate somebody willing to speak up and speak his mind, though. His generation of filmmakers made some great art because they were willing to speak up and finally broke the back of the Old Hollywood studio system strangling them.

As usual with him, though, while his point might have something to it, he expresses it in the least respectful way possible and hypocritically otherwise.

Like Trigger said, I think knowing the characters will help IW flow more smoothly. Black Panther was a good stand-alone film similar to Spider-Man Homecoming, but Wakanda looks to play a pretty large part in IW. I'm sure you'll be able to follow along just fine without seeing it, but it may not hurt to read up on a few things about Black Panther if you won't be able to watch it beforehand.
Last week, I realized that I'd never watched Ultron from beginning to end (I'd seen probably 1/2 to 3/4 of the movie, but always in pieces). I finally sat down and watched it. Not seeing that earlier didn't prevent me from liking the later movies, but there were a few things that came out of Ultron that helped make sense of some other things.
You hit it on the nose there. It isn't necessarily that what he says is completely untrue. However, it is how he says it, which is in a snobbish, old-school, hypocritical and elitist manner. Like you said, he has become the newer version of the old Hollywood system that once strangled him. Steven Spielberg has said and done a few similar things as well lately, but not necessarily to the disrespectful level Cameron has. I'll also take 1/20th of a Spielberg over Cameron any day of the week. At least Spielberg makes movies in this decade.

I have to amend a previous post: the early speculation was that Peter Dinklage was Corvus Glaive (at least the voice over) in Infinity War, but Joe Russo told CinemaBlend yesterday that Corvus Glaive is played by Michael Shaw.

The official trailer for Venom was released last night and gives us our first look at the Venom symbiote
Namor would be a better supporting character. I don't think he can carry a movie, Aquaman is better than him. However Namor is a great throw in character because he can go good or bad.
I want to see him introduced as a villain against Wakanda and Black Panther first, then eventually turn good

I also hope it eventually ends up being a part of the MCU, even if it is kind of tangentially. One thing really interesting to note about this is how the trailer gave the Marvel logo and said "In Association with", which is something I've never seen before. Typically, non-Marvel Studios Marvel movies just usually show the standard Marvel logo is all. I'm hoping that the "in association with" thing is their way of saying that while Marvel Studios didn't produce this movie, they were a part of making and integrating it into the MCU. We'll see. This possibly could be Marvel's way to delve into more mature "R" rated movies within their MCU universe through Sony, but "not" actually getting Disney fully into them. This also is the reason why I think Marvel ends up keeping Deadpool as-is and separate from the MCU once Disney buys Fox, and then they continue to run it through a separate label which might just end up being a continuation of the Fox label, or something similar. This way Disney can do "R" rated material, but not do "R" rated material if you get what I mean. I'm a marketing guy myself, and I know if I was a part of Disney, this is what I would do, but then again, I'm not a part of Disney

I thought the villain aspect was a little hammy, with Brock saying YOU WORK FOR AN EVIL PERSON! A little silly, and was I the only one that cringed when they said symBYEote? Maybe I'm being too critical, but as someone who has been blown away by God Of War's storytelling, I'm a little picky now LOL.
Overall, I'm hoping the writing gets a little better, but I'm still interested enough to watch on first weekend.

So far, based on 98 reviews, it has a 87% like score on Rotten Tomatoes with an average rating of 7.6/10, which is what I look at more so than the 87% score. While most all the ratings are fairly positive out there right now, there are definitely a few that are mixed. Regardless, an 87% and 7.6 score so far is very solid. It definitely isn't going to land it as the #1 rated MCU movie in the end, but numbers that high should ultimately land it in or towards the upper tier of them. I'll be interested to see the audience reaction. With the last movie Black Panther, critics were jumping all over one another to rave about it while its audience score actually ended up being on the lower end of MCU movies believe it or not, even though those audience scores were still very high. Regardless, that is an indicator of some disparity between audiences and critics a bit on that one, albeit, nowhere close to the disparity seen for The Last Jedi. We'll see if there ends up being some disparity again on this one.
