After seeing another trailer today for infinity war, I was informed that twilight sparkle would be in it. I had no words.

Spoilers from the 4yr. MCU joins with My Little Pony

Roll call for Avengers: Infinity War.... anyone going tonight???? I've got tickets to the 7:40 pm showing here in Cedar Rapids. I seriously haven't been this excited for a movie since either The Dark Knight or Civil War. I can't wait!!!!!!!!!!

Going tonight--to a later show after familial obligations are handled. I think it will be very good, though not perhaps what one might expect (I've avoided spoilers).

I went but my wife went with me so that made it different.

Next time, I go alone and the giant tub of popcorn is all mine.

What did you and your wife think?

I knew she'd be bored, that was a given.

I'm an old man with poor hearing, even with hearing aids, so it takes me multiple looks to grasp everything.

I was kind of thrown off by the look of a lot of the film especially the space oriented stuff.
It was almost like The Guardians weren't the same people appearing in Gaurdians's movies.

I'll get more takes when I get another look (or two).

Two for now:
Peter Quill really F'd up.
Thor is firmly established as the biggest, baddest.

I can relate that there is so much going on that I know I missed a TON of stuff, probably some really important stuff. Truthfully, I even had a hard time hearing a few of the things. Anymore, I almost always enjoy a movie better the second time around, particularly if I'm watching at home on my big-screen TV. I have no doubt this movie will be the same story.

Non-spoiler.... another big takeaway is how many freaking characters this movie has to balance and how well the Russo Bros did it. Granted, I can easily see why some reviewers have critiqued this movie as overstuffed, because it kind of inevitably has to be to accomplish its purpose. However, I'm convinced the Russo Bros did the best job possible of juggling this almost nearly impossible task really well. You do feel that everyone has a purpose to being in this film, rather than just being thrown in for the sake of throwing them in. Credit the screen writers there too.

I can't wait for the next one and Captain Marvel. So much unknowns.

I thought what they did with Hulk was more than curious, won't go further due to distaste for the spoiler thingy.

We just had a Thor comedy movie where he was disabled by a thing stuck to his neck and in this movie......wow.

I would agree with that. Without going into detail, I would say that I appreciated how difficult it was for them to make the character deaths seem real and final (that is always a difficult task in comic book land anyway). Some of the characters already have future movies in the pipeline, so it is difficult for the audience to believe that they are truly gone--and I think that steals away a bit of the impact, though it was very well done.

Good point on the shows. Posted my thoughts in the other thread. Where does this one rank Trigger?

Truthfully, out of all the Marvel movies, this is probably the one I want to see a second time soon to really be able to give any type of decent review. My head is still spinning enough that I don't know what to think. Therefore, I might abstain a bit from my full-out review as well as my ranking.

Now that it crushed the opening weekend, it will be interesting to see how much legs this thing has. That is ultimately where the biggest box office takers really made their money. From a competition standpoint, Infinity War should also dominate next weekend, as well as the weekend thereafter. However, past that, it will immediately get very much more difficult as you not only bump right into Deadpool 2 on May 18th, but then Disney will also start the cannibalize itself on May 24th with the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story. Both of those will compete directly for the same viewers for the most part. This is ultimately the pitfall of having a summer release. We'll see though. There is no doubt there will still be a lot of repeat viewings of this thing as it is those repeaters that really take things to the big heights.

Totally agree there is a lot to unpack and think about. So much happened.
